When I was asked to remix a track for the album release 'Night Dubbing II' I jumped at the chance. 
Imagination have always been one of my favourite bands. I love all of their LPs, especially the original 'Night Dubbing' released in 1983 (the year I started DJ-ing).
'Changes' was the stand out track for me, and it was an absolute pleasure remixing it.
I hope you enjoy my version.

Earlier this year Yam Who's Midnight Riot profiled the birth of Chicago House in their own distinct way, with a compilation of edits, reworks and homages of classics from the raft of artists associated with the label. Chicago is back on the agenda here, specifically the iconic Hot Mix 5 DJ crew consisting of Mickey 'Mixin' Oliver, Farley 'Jackmaster Funk', Ralphi 'Rockin' Rosario, Kenny 'Jammin' Jason and Scott 'Smokin' Silz and their associated label. This 19-track collection features Chi town pearlers from Larry Heard, Ralph Rosario, DJ Pierre and more given the Midnight Riot treatment with all the usual suspects involved.

"My goal with “Gangsta Gangsta” was to find an intersection point between Hip Hop and a style of electronic music that was a comprehensive representation of every element of the Dr. Fresch brand. I kept the track at 105BPM to preserve the integrity of Baby E’s verses (and the original of course), so my instrumental perspective became a crossbreed between slowed-down G-House and indie electro. I’m constantly finding inventive ways to inject hip hop into the realm of electronic music - I hope my fans buzz off this project as much as I have, so excited for this release!" - Dr. Fresch

2016 is shaping to be a fantastic year for Rebirth Records, the 10th Year anniversary and the 100th release !

To celebrate this special date the label owner Shield and his 'right arm' Robytek get in the studio to collaborate with two of the most innovative figures of the end of 70s / early 80s. The A side is the 'The Pyramids' with Isabelle Antena, French singer and songwriter,  founding member of electro-samba pioneers Antena. In the 1990s she also led another group, the Powaga Sisters, for three albums between until 2004. Alongside these projects she maintained a solo music career, selling over a million albums and earning musical acclaim across the globe. From 'Camino Del Sol' (1982) to 'Bossa Super Nova' (2010), her cool latin, bossa, jazz and funk vibes have delighted ears and feet worldwide.  'The Pyramids' is something really special,  a cosmic and balearic song with a timeless meaning, with the collaboration of Martin Ditcham (Sade's percussionist) for the drum and Paolo Mantini, a real italian talent, for the bass and chords.

The AA side is 'NOW', a collaboration with Salvatore Principato (Sal P.) and Dennis Young, known as the vocalist and  marimba/percussionist  of the seminal early 80’s NYC band Liquid Liquid. The experimental sounding band emerged from New York City's vibrant Downtown scene in 1981, developing their own unique sound which they called 'big beat', a fusion of irresistible basslines, junkyard percussion and urgent, free-flowing lyrics. The group’s successes included club hits such as 'Cavern' (sampled by Grandmaster Flash in the making of 'White Lines'), 'Bellhead' and 'Optimo' in addition to sold-out concerts worldwide. Sal P and Dennis still explore today new ways of writing & performing music. ‘NOW’ is an experimental way to combine the live drums performed by Snacks (the Berlin based duo Rene Corbett & Aljoscha Babel), with the electronic world and the unique musical textures from Sal P and Dennis Young.

Selvagem, who featured on the first release, return again this time with their good amigo Kiko Costato to deliver a top notch slice of dubby, afro influenced, chant infused music that would drive most carnivals absolutely bonkers.
 
Meanwhile over on the flipside, disco afficionados Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco take a classic sounding Brasilian number, reconstruct it and work it to the max producing a perfect dance floor moment.

Rebirth Records presents Rebirth Lab Vol.3, our EP series to introduce and give space to three up and coming producers, who debut on our label with three different tracks. The Volume 3 features CRS + BRG, Simone Scaramuzzi and Tears Of Change.

 CRS+BRG (Cristian Addabbo and Giorgio Permattei) come from Viterbo. They found themselves sharing the same console, and discovering they had the same musical taste. They soon started to work together, launching their own 'iNtensive' night, and producing in the studio. 'Jazz Jam' marks the beginning of their music productions, and we can hear their musical direction. An atmospheric and emotional track with jazz keys and lush strings.

Born in Brescia and vinyl lover and collector, Simone Scaramuzzi started to produce music in his Docdj Studio in 1990, releasing on labels like Lapsus, Ocean Dark, Paul's Boutique and his own Tambour imprint. Tried and tested in recent months, 'Remember Me' is one of the songs that make the difference in every set: big drums,  a very deep bass and a strong rhodes theme. Definitely a track that will make you move this summer !

Federico Baracco and Paolo Mantini, aka Tears Of Change, born and raised in northern Italy. They have both studied music since young age and met each other at 16 years old.  Their long-lasting passion in electronic music inspired them to work together on exciting projects. Influenced by Dub and Detroit Techno and by artists of the likes of Robert Hood, Joey Anderson, Maurizio their style is made by a mix of deep sounds and captivating Grooves. Their live set is also spectacular !  '707 Loves Us' is a successful experiment of mixing a Tr 707 rhythm pattern, an acid house bassline and a jazz improvisation.
