Multi Culti launch a new quarterly 12” series in step with the seasons beginning with SOLSTICE I:

Post-pandemic lockdown inspiration can be found in the great planetary balancing act that has taken place since a cataclysmic impact with an asteroid caused mass extinction and set our earth’s orbit off axis. This AXIAL TILT, or obliquity, is responsible for the seasons, and life as we know it has evolved around these unleashed forces. As our lives and for many, careers, have spun dramatically off axis as of late, we look ahead to the coming seasons, with the hope that we can weather the changes, and maintain inner stability.  To aid in this quest, Multi Culti promises to deliver sonic support with utmost regularity at the peak moments of cosmic significance, with each Solstice and Equinox.

Beginning this journey are some of the label’s most beloved artists. Israeli duo RED AXES provide a chakra-elevating soundtrack with their inimitable blend of psych-garage-tronica, a sun-kissed banger that signals a long-awaited return to the togetherness of the dancefloor.

They did it again! Slow Motion Records head Fabrizio Mammarella and Robert Johnson resident Philipp Lauer team up once more under their Black Spuma alias to deliver the latest installment of the LARJ label, namely their Hypercall EP. Combining Italo Disco vibes with a note of summer-ish excellence Philipp and Fabrizio certainly provide followers of the arts with a musical approach that hits close to their hearts as it comes with a well-needed warmth in sounds making one crawl for or at least imagine a time you spend with friends under the blue sky. The A1, Station To Station, therefore provides as the starter for this journey. Bleeping chords paired with pads set the tone for this take and are enriched with a memorable piano-interlude which leads into seemingly futuristic lazer-esque chords chasing one around the world.

After a series of singles and his 2020 album ‘Sickla’, Opolopo returns to Local Talk with a rework collection where he was given free reign, to 'tweak' his personal faves from the Local Talk vaults. Over these 10 tracks, Opolopo tweaks cuts from Jamie 3:26 & Masalo, the late great Soulphiction, Kiko Navarro, DirtyTwo and Soul Renegades. As always, the soul is ever-present. Tibi Dabo unveils his long-awaited full-length ‘Vista’ on Crosstown Rebels this September, with the  kaleidoscopic nine-track album showcasing his diverse and rich sound palette.  

Born in Barcelona, DJ, producer, and musician Tibi Dabo has proven himself adept at mixing the classic and the cutting-edge. From  his early days touring Europe and the US with a band in which he plays the drums, the foundation for his experimentation for his work  within the electronic sphere, he has since grown to become an exciting and much-loved DJ and producer, adding to his growing  reputation as a Crosstown Rebels favourite. Stepping things up once more, his spirited new album ‘Vista’ is a perfect fusion of  futuristic synths and compelling house grooves, all of which are masterfully designed and full of character. Following three well received singles across the summer, the full-length is a complete sonic statement that explores deep house, leftfield sonics and  widescreen cosmic vistas.  

Opener ‘Water Is’ layers up fresh sound sources and playful melodies on nimble basslines that soon make you move. ‘Somewhere  Beach’ is then a silky groove layered up with diffuse pads and aching synths that convey real romance, while ‘Licht’ is another  masterful display of original drum programming with bursts of cosmic synth and elastic bass. ‘Useless Ideas’ then gets deeper on  more low-key drums and bass. Instead, the focus is on the deft percussion and well-treated vocals that swirl and smudge around the  mix to a woozy late-night effect.  

The elegant ‘Mundo’ channels the machine soul of early Detroit techno, before ‘Mangabeira Manifesto’ featuring Dudu Bongo layers  up wonky drums and bass with curling, soft acid sounds and a playful vocal line. There is heartbreak in the melancholic chords and  broken beat funk of ‘Diamond Baby’ while ‘Triple Frontier’ picks up the pace and heads out on a high-speed cosmic house journey, all  before ‘Overture’, another far-sighted astral trip with starry melodies and rich, rubbery bass, closes the package in fine style. 

An expressive and adventurous yet coherent long player with a range of moods, feelings and grooves taking you to all corners of the  house world, ‘Vista’ showcases Dabo’s most in-depth project to date and an album which provides the perfect platform for him to  display his rich sonic universe.

-	Shell-shocked by a compilation of Chicago House that his elder brother gave him, music pupil Roman from Darmstadt became interested in electronic music.
-	Visits to Sven Väth’s Omen in Frankfurt and nights spent with Underground Resistance or Warp turned his whole world upside down. LFO’s bass still massages his stomach region to this very day.
-	The first demo tape is given to Jörn Elling Wuttke, who is thrilled and leaves his others bands to join forces in a project with Roman.
-	Together they pay a visit to Ata and Heiko MSO. The latter work as DJs and sellers in Frankfurt’s Delirium and can hardly believe their ears. They are delighted to set their A&amp;R activities (Ongaku, Klang) in motion.
-	For Holy Garage “Surprise”, which also appeared on Eye Q, they found the Playhouse label, later to become the flagship of the label triumvirate and one of the most influential labels in Germany.
-	Time flies in the nineties with working on the label and the success of the projects Alter Ego and Sensorama. Roman also does solo projects under the name Soylent Green, Eight Miles High, Ro 70, Roman IV and his real name. The spectrum ranges from nosebleed techno to delicate ambient and electro-pop tunes.
-	Sven Väth asks Alter Ego to be his producer.
-	Remixes for Daft Punk, Radio Slave, Primal Scream, Ricardo Villalobos, The Human League, Spektrum, Tiefschwarz, Baby Ford, Chicks On Speed, and many others.
-	Alter Ego beats all the records with “Rocker” and Roman provides a worthy successor with “Geht’s Noch!?”.
-	Live appearances all over the world and Roman becomes increasingly popular as a DJ. His sets comprise 20 years of rave in one breath of techno, house, Italo-disco and obscurities. It goes by the name of acid house.
