Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

“We wrote this track soon after watching Daptone Records’ set at Green Man Festival 2022. Inspired by the driving rhythms of Motown and Northern Soul records from the likes of The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Diana Ross and The Supremes et al. We then took aim to channel that timeless feeling with “Ceremony”.
Using sampled Motown drums, horns, and a ticking clock, we layered in our own vocal loops, approaching the arrangement much like a DJ would. By resampling the vocals on a Roland SP404 MKii, we created a fresh yet nostalgic atmosphere. We kept the bassline simple and driving to carve out space for Funk Brothers-esque guitar stabs, filling in the gaps with chaotic yet deliberate guitar flourishes and glitches.
Our goal was for the track to feel like a DJ remix of a classic Northern Soul hit from a bygone era, evoking the same feeling of nostalgia and energy that we experienced on that fateful morning at Green Man Festival. (Around 4 a.m.)”

The Moon Fell out of the Sky

Written on a visit to seaside town Hastings, "Hot Air Balloon" captures a fleeting, surreal moment—waking up in his van to a golden haze, looking down at the old town and sea, and watching a blimp lazily follow the shoreline.
The song embodies the sleepy, sepia-toned charm of that day: spontaneous conversations, coffees at The Dunes, thoughts of a late swim, and the beauty of simple observations—like "there’s sand in my shoe, so bad news."
With groovy, addictive drums, washed-out horns, glitchy samples, and driving guitars, "Hot Air Balloon" feels both intimate and expansive. One of my favorite details in the production is a playful sound bite of a child’s voice saying, “It’s my turn,”—a moment captured from a sampler I borrowed from a good friend in Bristol. His kids, excited to have their turn on the mic, unknowingly created a perfect little gem, which I wove throughout the track to complement the drum design. It adds a touch of spontaneity and warmth that makes the song feel even more personal.

Bringing additional depth to the recording, Chris Matthewson’s baritone guitars and KD Kadar’s expert mixing tie the sound together, shaping a track that feels like a dreamy memory—hazy, heartfelt, and effortlessly cool. The track was co-produced by Michael Baker and KD Kadar, ensuring a seamless blend of organic and electronic textures.


Hot Air Balloon

"Isn't Love Important" is a song from Jonny Fallout's new album, "Travelogue", released on Triplicate Records (https://jonnyfallout.bandcamp.com). The track combines influences from synthwave to IDM. Dreamy synths and airy, warped pads, underpinned by the scattered and kaleidoscopic arpeggios coalesce beautifully into a wonderfully unique sonic mix.

Misaligned

Nostalgia is the sophomore album from Patron Saints, and a more diverse record that the debut 'Lateralism' which was released in 2024.

With a larger scope and more focused vision, Nostalgia doesn't sit still for a moment. Instead, it careers wildly through genre-bending electronica song-craft, through deep house, downtempo, rave, dubstep and synthwave, culminating in the magnum opus 'Chicago' that rounds out the album like an electro-symphony in 4 parts.
