Journal Entry #2- Grief

A Tribute to Mister REY. The man who taught me to just do my thing and the person to show me how to make beats. A lot of this grief has been handled with care with people in the Bay Area community. I just want to send my utmost respect and best wishes to the family, friends, and everyone effected. All recordings of Rey were from an interview from a class I took at SFSU. He eventually helped me get a job at the same place I was interning and had always encouraged my music and community work. The part of things being "prayer" comes from a pamphlet given at the funeral services where it said "let your actions be prayer let your creations be prayer let your exchanges be prayer let your life be prayer and let all your prayer be powerful"

A MESSAGE TO REY: 
 Hey man I didn’t make these beats, but the idea of doing almost everything myself for the sake of skill or helping others has been the backbone to my most recent songs and I appreciate you man. I hope you’d bump this song if you could listen to it with me.

JOURNAL ENTRY 8- SOFT LIFE (PEACE OF MIND AND MUSIC)

"Digital Echoes in Empty Rooms" paints a haunting portrait of modern isolation in our hyper-connected world. The song explores the paradox of feeling profoundly alone while surrounded by endless digital chatter. It captures the hollowness of scrolling through social media feeds filled with carefully curated lives, where genuine connections seem just out of reach. The heavy reverberated sounds attempt to emulate the eerie glow of screens illuminating solitary figures in darkened rooms, their voices echoing into the void of online spaces but finding no real response. The song touchs on the desperation of seeking validation online when nothing physical remains, leaving only a feeling of lingering emptiness. It also explorea the contrast between the bustling online world and the stark silence of physical isolation, highlighting how digital noise often amplifies rather than alleviates loneliness. Ultimately, "Digital Echoes in Empty Rooms" could be seen as the struggle to find authentic human connection in an age where we're more linked than ever, yet somehow further apart as well as the atomization and mechanization of post-industrialization.

For the last few years, I've been lightweight collecting Original Pilipino Music, or OPM, on vinyl. Problem is, OPM is not very easy to find in the States, so i can only dig when i’m in the Philippines. When my man ET IV asked me to play his party ASTIG, I was hyped, but also kinda nervous because I wasn’t sure if I even had enough records for an entire set. But I did, and had a blast playing some of my fav OPM joints out in public! This mix was inspired by the set I dropped that night... Listen to ASTIG, a mix of sweet Pinoy Soul, Manila Disco, and classic OPM from the 70's and 80's. Enjoy!
