Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

The album here now at hand has been in work for more than a year. Just enough time for Sebastian Damerius aka ComixXx to bring in fourteen tracks which complete in its build up his long-awaited solo album. For this cause he invited several guests to his Berlin based studio. Maybe first and foremost Alex Barck, who has been backing him up throughout all of the production process with his enormous experience and his beyond any doubt reliable sense of style. It has been Barck, too, how discovered the 15-year old singer Mirna in the school choir of his daughter and brought her to ComixXx' studio to record her self-penned “Can U Feel?”. That's also already the album's first hit; having been released already last year as a teaser with a wide response.

More than just a brief feature on the album enjoys Knixx. The long lasting friendship between the Berlin based singer and ComixXx resulted already in several mutual productions over the last few years. This time half of all the songs on “The Great Escape” are contributed by Dominik “Knixx” Wirth. For instance the ballad “Love Is Overrated”, the sinister, badass beats-driven “Up In The Shell”, the Berlin homage “BLN” and of course the title track “The Great Escape”. All of them perfect shaped pop gems which should, no, have to get airplay on every decent radio station in this world. Also “Miss You” with its Spoken Words by Babet Mader the album's guiding theme comes into effect: “The Great Escape” tells the story of the melancholic farewell of a great love, the emergence into a new stage of life and the confidence in the things to come. 

“Spread Your Love” is a comforter in this field: Peter Folk's  marvellous voice smoothens across the bone-dry polyrhythmic drum programming until the track uprises to stunning heights with its acid-like synth chords. A further sure-shot off this album. The very same Peter Folk can also be heard on the closing track of the album, “Rock Bottom Riser”, a brilliant cover version off Bill Callahan's 2005 album “A River Ain't Too Much To Love”. The two instrumentals “Dark Spring Break” and “Short Memories” act as short intermezzos between all these guest appearances without being less thrilling or even being shy of getting accused of acting as mere fillers. Quite the contrary so. ComixXx' gift for restrained, beatific, atrabilious productions are displayed on these two tracks to the fullest. The best example for his craft though is “Broken Connection” with British singer and Sonar Kollektiv associate Pete Josef. His fragile voice baths in a sea full of tears, fights pitifully against memories and let-downs to eventually put a new complexion on all future aspects yet again. This is plainly and simply just masterfully designed and narrated. This is pop music of 2015. This is one of the albums of the year.

Ryan Elliott has been working both Berghain and Panorama Bar as a resident for almost a decade and his distinctive style and tenacity as a selector is second to none.

The international duo KMLN unites the Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Tooker with Canadian producer Shawna Hofmann. Their paths crossed eight years ago. Gui Boratto from Sao Paulo and Robert Babicz from Cologne have produced this hooky house tune with that certain melodic something you can´t get out of your ears anymore.

The flip side comes along with that special Babicz Italo beats which beam you back to Rimini in 1983.

A product of the transformative power of dance music, Ede moved Berlin after he experienced something magical while dancing to Ame at Berghain. So enchanted was he by the pivotal moment that he set his sights on making music to be released by Innervisions... And that hap- pened three years later when his track ‘Jenny’ made it into the label’s ‘Secret Weapons 11’ compilation. Ede’s dark, new wave style has also piqued the interest of Jennifer Cardini, who signed his music to a V/A on her Correspondant Music label recently. Now the producer joins the TAU family for a full EP, featuring four original cuts.

‘Raum’ jumpstarts the collection with menacing allure. Whirring analogue forms the core of this deadly track, keeping it tight in the low end while various layers of synth fizz and snarl. An urgent riff joins the fray, adding depth and energy. Across almost 10 minutes Ede showcases his ability to create a dark atmosphere and imbue his music with spinetingling theatrics. Fans of the riff will be pleased to find a beatless version of ‘Raum’, which will be useful for creating dramatic moments during DJ sets no doubt.

On side B, ‘Zeit’ brings the pace down slightly. A melancholy synth line evokes feelings of sorrow, while the beat pumps along. Ede uses the full 8 minutes of this track to really build the tension, finally unleashing it halfway through. This could easily be used on the soundtrack for a cyborg action movie set in the future.

Last up, ‘Unendlichkeit’ is a further demonstration of Ede’s love of futurism, new wave and film noir circa 2080. Here he tells a story with the machines, each one adding their contribution to the narrative which gets more and more chaotic as the tune progresses.

A very impressive EP, and we’re sure you’ll agree it’s something quite special.

LF RMX 016 clearly splits its intention between the two sides. First going head-on and far out in Len Faki‘s trancey but fast-shoving Hardspace edit of Jesse Somfay‘s 2005 track ‚Can You See Me I‘m Waving‘. Then it‘s all about imagining the place suggested by ’Small Pebbled Forest’, where water-like melody sprinkles over deep, progressives basses, and fireflies seem to be lighting up an enchanted scenery.

As usual with LFRMX releases, the proceeds of this record will be forwarded entirely to charity organization Straßenkinder e.V., who are working to offer help to the children living on the streets of Berlin.

For more than the last decade, Ron Flatter has been enriching the house and techno landscape with his own direct and energetic productions and warm, groove-driven DJ sets. Initially the young German was a keen skateboarder and hip hop fan, but the lure of dance music soon pulled him in and he has never looked back since. 

Over the years he has turned out a high number of consistently excellent and innovative tracks that are filled with unique sound design, fresh melodies and plenty of dance floor drive. He has done so on labels like Pour La Vie, Still vor Talent and Traum Schallplatten, always evolving with each new release and exploring fresh new ground. Plenty of taste making talents ardor the world have all played his productions in the past, and recent cuts like “Stupid World” and “Desert” have taken DJs by storm: they combine heavy drums with light, emotive pianos and well-timed breaks that thrill and surprise just when you least expect.

As a DJ, too, Ron is a skilled selector who knows exactly what to drop and when to drop it. He has played in every major club and festival in Europe in the last decade and holds down a key residency in his hometown of Halle (Saale), Germany. It is there that he likes to interact with crowds, read their needs and play to their passions, mixing up deep house and techno and plenty in between. 

After more than 26 EPs and singles, a fine 2011 full length in Growth Rings that really showcased the breadth of his style and more than 50 remixes, all of which have seen Ron put his special stamp on a cultured selection of sounds, Ron Flatter is well and truly a global electronic player who wins big with each and every project. Always releasing and headlining on a regular basis, Ron Flatter’s beats are the beats that matter.
