Aterral records, the imprint of Malaga-born and Berlin-based DJ/Producer, Carlo, is turning two years old.

Celebrating a sound that blends deep, life-affirming house, two-step and minimal, a smooth 8-track selection brings to the fore a range of underground dancefloor gems packed full of soul. Bringing seasoned mainstays and newcomers with it, Aterral’s renowned alternative output now takes a turn directly toward the dancefloor with a fresh and wide-ranging fusion of sounds.

Aterral newcomer Austin Ato brings a lo-fi work out on ‘Obsession 3’, as does fellow newbie Denalia with the ultra-minimal ‘Room One’. The collection wouldn’t be complete without the label's already burgeoning family members...

Jesse Bru, who’s ‘Rainforrest’ EP from earlier this year has been a highlight for so many, delivers early morning warehouse vibes on 'In the Deep’. Lis Sarroca’s 'Magic Happenings’ comes correct with its metronomic tempo, Emanuele Barilli brings his throbbing chords on ‘Be Pe Em’ and Nephews stimulates the senses with the smooth warmth of ‘Waves’.

Aterral’s dearest friend Black Loops springs into action with the swinging two-step bounce of ‘Fanacanna’, whilst label boss Carlo.. As the title suggests… Is ‘Just Tripping Lightly.’

Two years and eighteen releases... Aterral is just getting started.

Ethyène is next up on Brookland Jams with his 'Ethyène's Resort' EP 🏝️

With Ethyéne returning from a long break from music, it was only right to hear from the main man himself ahead of his ‘Ethyène’s Resort’ EP.

“I wanted Ethyène’s resort to be a humble but sincere invitation to the listeners to come spend a relaxing and fairy time in my own world.
First track ‘Love is such a beautiful thing’ is an enchanting house tune with a never ending progressive groove topped by a naive but beautiful vocal sample.

Second track ‘Bread of the Desert’ is a dancefloor heater made from an underground soul sample. Aggressive hats, slapped bassline, fairy strings loop and badass vocals that remembers us of some of the Ugly Edits by Theo Parrish, record that’s been influencing me for a long time.

Third track ‘Heaven Sand’ is the first I produced chronologically and had me wanting to do this whole EP. It gets an old school city pop vibe in the beginning with reverberated synths that slowly turns into something more Miami influenced thanks to the arpeggiator. Like a global signature to this EP, the track ends with a looped vocal sample that makes you instantly feel good.

The last track, Palermo Nostalgia, has been produced during a trip in Sicily with my girlfriend and reflects the mood in which I was at this moment, happy, enjoying life but not forgetting that troubles could be back. Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain.”

This one is really special.

Written by Angela Johnson, the original is a big vocal deep house jam that got some hints of the 90s Jersey sound..but not too retro ;)

‘What If’ is the second single to be taken from Dam-based don Retromigration’s debut album. Fourteen expertly executed tracks that range from hazy beats and jazz-tinged broken rhythms to club-ready groovers, deep excursions, soulful footwork and even some jungle energy. A flavour for every occasion and damn it tastes good. With an envious run of releases on the likes of Handy, Healthy Scratch, wewillalwaysbealovesong and WOLF in a relatively short space – Retormigration is a hot property and it’s clear to see why. 

Probably best know for his house jams, he’s not one to be pigeonholed. With ‘What If’, another course of Retromigration’s expansive taste gets served up. It is a bouncing footwork number that blends twisted, soulful vocal chops, rapid drum patterns, and synths into an ethereal excursion.
