Musical artist living in the Balearics, STEEN THOTTRUP, has been releasing music since 1991, starting with uptempo dance music in various projects, but mainly as ‘MIRO', before later turning his talents to crafting downtempo productions with huge success. He is now considered one of the pioneers of that genre. 
Steen is the most featured artist on the worlds best selling Chillout compilation, ‘Cafe del Mar’. He is featured several times on the worlds best selling Lounge compilation, ‘Buddha Bar’  as well. He has released 4 solo albums (all received 5 star reviews) and the newest 5th album have just been released called '5'.

Since summer 2013 I use SoundCloud to disseminate and exchange small pieces of music which I usually play on bass. Beside my current band in the area of rock and old school punk-rock this is an important activity to keep a proper balance between my day-time profession in academia/research and my private life.

In particular, when I started recording, my idea was to compose music for elevators and phone waiting-loops. The first recordings I did with my BOSS RC-30 looper, which I still use today for practicing quite often. The tracks are mostly created in an ad-hoc approach and the ideas remain as raw as they were during first shot. Due to time, the effort for post-processing is always kept very low ;-)

In addition, I write reviews on basses. A first try, you find on the Web-Site of the German manufacturer Bassart – the review is about my Amazing Standard (see the links below). A further review addresses my 6-string Groover from Ralf Börjes build in 1995. This is the by far coolest bass on the planet. The article was published in the German magazine Bassquarterly (Nov./Dec. Issue in 2017 – see the links below).
