To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to host such an iconic figure from the Berlin Techno scene : BORIS

Boris is kind of a charismatic, multifunctional weapon in the Berlin club life. His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when he lived in New York for four years where he absorbed the unique spirit of the seminal club Paradise Garage weekend after weekend. From the Club’s mentor Larry Levan Boris learned to believe in his musical intuition as well as a broad musical spectrum, which nowadays ranges from Disco, Hi-NRG, Post-Punk and (Kraut-) Rock to House and Techno, all of which Boris loves to throw into one set. “Music was most important for Levan. He was uncompromising and he knew how to convey it. That’s what I’m trying to achieve, too, when I’m djing.”

After the old OstGut/Panorama Bar closed in 2003, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin, but when the follow up club Berghain opened its doors in 2004, he quickly focused on playing out here again. From 2005 till 2010 he had another musical platform, as he was taking care of the label Careless Records as an A&R. As a DJ, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist.

Fiedel joins for DifferentSound Podcast #198.

Contrast. Objection. Antithesis. This is how you might start an attempt to describe the world. A seemingly chaos of shapes and thoughts that don't belong to each other. An overall image to be found in life and in music.  But that's not Fiedel’s view of the world.  Where others make distinctions, he sees connections, where others find emptiness; he finds rooms full of opportunities. Finding those harmonies, connections and contexts marks out his musical work. The synthesis of apparently opposing music, the interaction and the mix of styles and moods, without loosing the storyline, that  makes out the characteristic Fiedel sound. Born and raised in Brandenburg, he finds access to the music through various artists and styles in the mid 1980s. He was influenced by artists of the old school hip hop like Mantronix and  Egyptian Lover and  the early works  of Depeche Mode and  Kraftwerk.  A very important influence was  Monika  Dietl’s radio  show at Radio 4U in West-Berlin. Her show aroused the fascination and the longing for musical freedom and  diversity,  that  was not possible in former Eastern Germany. Those impressions gave him a first feeling, a first vision of what  should become alive later on. He is lead by his history, the history of the music and  the feeling of the moment to build something new and  to capture this very moment. Let it be the straight dark techno of today, banging acid of the 80ies or an electro funk record, Fiedel surprises. He undermines and overrides expectations and refrains to limit the music for any reason. He lets the music speak for itself, through himself.

TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ AMANDA MUSSI

Combining the sounds of techno, acid, breaks  and house music, São Paulo DJ, producer and label/agency boss Amanda  Mussi works hard to bring something fresh and new to the dance-floor. 
Amanda is known as a strong presence in the queer underground music scene in São Paulo where she held her monthly party Dûsk for 5 years and now she is a  resident at some of the best events in  Brazil: Mamba Negra - where she debuted  at her first Boiler Room, Dando and Kode ( Rio de Janeiro ); she often appears as a guest at events like DGTL, Photon, Gop Tun, Tantsa, and many others. 
Amanda has taken her sound on the road  to many cities around the world and now  she is based between São Paulo, Berlin and Paraguay where she grew  up and has a strong connection with the  local scene and also has a residency at Tango Club. She has been a very known presence in New York, at the infamous  and best-regarded party Unter, touring  every year to the USA and Europe, becoming a frequent presence in cities like, Stockholm, Budapest, Milan amongst many others, but especially in Berlin where she constantly performs at Pornceptual and Berghain, where he plays every summer, being one of  the first female Brazilian DJs to perform there on the main floor.
Her music releases started in the past 4  years with her Paraguayan crew from LPZ  records, Renato Cohen’s Massa Records,  The Lady Machine’s Unterwegs, PG Tune  and the recently launched label Macro  Hits in collaboration with her partner  Ananda, where they’re having a monthly  residency on The Lot Radio in NYC. 
In between shows and producing,  Amanda runs the .alt bookings agency,  a collective dedicated to promoting  cultural exchanges in South America’s  underground scene; this new platform  allows her to collaborate with world wide  artists, and brings together many scenes  from her continent.
