On November 13, 2015, Easy Star Records will release The Big Smoke, the sophomore album from UK-based band Gentleman's Dub Club. The Big Smoke is one of the finest complete recordings that I have heard this year, with incredible moments on each track- from the darker dubbed out instrumental "Enter The Chamber" to the pop ladened chorus of "See Them."  The album's listening experience (in its entirety) is a pleasure and stands as a timely progression for reggae's melodic subgenre, future roots music, drawing favorable comparisons to New Zealand's The Black Seeds and Fat Freddy's Drop.

In October 2014, Lincoln Valentine Style Scott was murdered in his house in Manchester, Jamaica. He was 58 years old. At that tim he had just finished his work on “Hard Food”, the first album released by his Dub Syndicate since “No Bed of Roses” in 2004. Dub Syndicate’s first studio album for eleven years, an event that was to be a joyous celebration with friends, has now become Style Scott’s legacy.

NOW, exactly one year after his death – the new dub scene of Europe will tribute to this legendary drummer. The trademarking song “DUB IS ALL I GOT” will appear in 14 different version and excursion as a kind of REMIX Clash. A fascinating and splending bass experience and in the very sensitive way the remixers and admirers paid tribute for is more than excellent…!

With Style Scott the reggae world, and indeed the entire world, has lost one of its best drummers. His unexpected, tragic death is devastating for his friends and family, to whom we express our deepest sympathy. At the same time, Style’s music – both sounds and lyrics – reveal that his life was rich in warmth and harmony. His death has made our lives poorer.

Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (GPGDS) are on a mission to “Make It Better.” The new album from the Rochester, New York-based band addresses this theme, not just through music, but through art, conversation, and everyday living. Even the smallest actions on a local level can produce positive change on a global scale. Singer-bassist James Searl explains, “There is a lot of intention in this release. We had a purpose to prove to ourselves recording this album. We wanted to know that we could put our heads down and do good work fast. It was a great release artistically. It uniquely sounds the most progressive of anything we have ever done while also sounding the most like our first album.”
