This album was first released on Vinyl and Cassette in 1987.  More recently Bristol Archive Records rereleased a ‘deluxe’ version on CD featuring bonus dub tracks.  And now finally Nubian Records has made this album available on digital download.

This album was the first collaboration with Neil Fraser aka The Mad Professor.  He gave the band a fuller more mature sound without compromising the band unique roots feel that is punctuated by powerful and harmonic vocals.  This download version features 11 of the 12 original tracks, with 3 extra dub mixes and the extended mix of ‘Pin in the Ocean’.

04 Blow Those Clouds Away

The track “Smokin’ Love” opens with swirling piano chords, catchy lyrics highlighting the band’s signature dub sound. The track details multi-instrumentalist, producer and singer Scott Woodruff’s upbeat narrative of wanting to smoke with the one he loves, highlighted in the lyrics:

“I wanna get high, I wanna get low, come on I wanna smoke little spliff with you / Lord knows I’m not a fool, I’m just crazy for you.”

“Smokin’ Love” was recorded the same way as all their songs; in Woodruff’s home studio with each instrument individually recorded and layered in unison to one other. The band has previewed the track through their social media sites and have recently started playing it live.

Hailing from the Island of St Croix, Midnite is one of the most promising roots reggae bands of the millennium. Many answers to world troubles are cryptically placed in Midnite’s steadfast, strong lyrical content deleiverd by smooth and simple melodies. Lead singer Vaughn Benjamin’s angelic voice is an amalgamation of expressions in music. His soulful chanting and raspy voice mellows can into a sweet and sincere experience. The message is clearly Rastafarian and their devotion to spreading that message is inspirational. Vaughn delves deep into subjects that are relevant to these times by addressing distinct social problems of today, while decoding ancient philosophies from the past. “Infinite Quality” features a powerful combination of Vaughn Benjamin’s searing lyrics, with the cutting edge productions of Lustre Kings’ producer, Digital Ancient (Andrew “Moon” Bain”). Responsible for coordinating the majority of the musical arrangement and production on this record, ‘Moon’ draws from a diverse musical background to create a sound unprecedented in Midnite’s vast catalogue. There is additional production from LK’s colleagues: I Grade Records, Zion High,  Diego ‘Fuego’ Campo (Noble Society) and Nick Fantastic (Hard Times Riddim). This wide-range of musical contribution combined with Vaughn’s potent lyrical style has lead to “Infinite Quality.” This impressive and unforgettable album is one of a kind in reggae music today. It incorporates seasoned reggae musicians such as Tony Ruption of Third World, Wadi Gad, Dean Pond and the legendary Basil ‘Benbo’ Creary. Equipped with live strings and horn lines all beautifully arranged throughout the album. With genre styles ranging from roots, dancehall to hip-hop, “Infinite Quality” is an album for the ages.
