Hipster Modular presents "Placebo Controlled"

This piece is the first in the "MetaSong" series. It was created in VCV Rack from 3 probability-driven instruments and a sample from our friend Dr. Fauci (collected live from his insightful presentation at https://youtu.be/sjhMfvv8l0Y )

The "Placebo" is the pharmaceutical equivalent to the hipster and its concept sets the tone for this idea that something should exist beyond its own time and beyond its own being. Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral with a likely but unknown trajectory. We can only speculate based on probability.

The piece was created by controlling various functions of a modular rack (from note probability to instrument timbre). The audio was recored as a stereo mix. The automation was recorded as control data in Ableton Live 10 using a Behringer X-Touch mini controller mapped with the TrevoCon-X-Touch Max for Live plugin.

The collection of the recorded audio along with the captured automation make it possible to archive and recreate the piece as it was performed. Such a "MetaSong" archive also makes it possible to evolve the piece into something beyond its first state. A song is a musical composition intended to be vocally performed by the human voice. In this way, this piece is a song and a MetaSong.
