Our client Griffith, Griffy Jams on SoundCloud, wrote this song while here in Sept. 2022 and played it acoustically during his coin out for his peers. I liked it so much I got him and another client to record it really quickly in about an hour.

Aside from his engineering capabilities, his passionate and down to earth personality brought this song to life through creative collaboration. I can’t thank him enough for the time and effort he put into this.

Graham, Tex and Matt: thank you for everything you guys did. Words can’t describe how much it meant to me being able to explore creativity with you. I was hesitant to get vulnerable and share it with people; when I did, you all made it fun and free of judgement. You are all so incredibly talented and it was one of my greatest accomplishments working with you. All of your efforts, musical prowess and friendship means the world to me. I’ll never forget this experience and will hold it dearly for the rest of my life.

This song is a metaphor of my relationship to substances. Being in and out of recovery my entire life, I likened it to me being “the man on the moon.” My life waxed and waned for better and for worse and I was responsible for pulling the tides onto the beach that destroyed every sandcastle I built with my wife, family and friends; over and over and over again. But come hell or high water, I’ll keep swimming for the coast - never give up and hold onto hope that we do recover. I wrote it in the midst of my addiction but singing it sober with men on the same path as I was indescribable. Again, thank you for everything. Love.

Poor Poor Pitiful Me

Here's an extremely rough home demo of Love Song, later recorded by the Damned, possibly recorded on a Tascam reel to reel 4 track which allowed bouncing - but of course the sound starts to get murky fairly sharpish. The drums are some tapping on the mic with a pencil (snare) and index finger (bassdrum). As ever Johnny is giving it his all here but sadly Mr Vanian couldn't be persuaded to repeat his final "you're a b**ch" ad lib on the Chiswick Records recording.
