Hot on the heels of his doom-electro release on CYBERDOME, Italian producer D3070 readies his Lobster Theremin debut with five lairy cuts of end-of-the-world techno and electro.



‘Orbital’ is a simple, no frills track; uncompromising in-your-face energy meets melting acidic basslines on a 4x4 rhythm, before the noise breaks on ‘Space Invader’ and a mutated electro-step emerges out from a dark alleyway covered in slime. 



Dubstep/footwork blends increase the velocity on ‘You Got Me’; new territory for the emerging producer and one that we can’t wait to see him explore more - before we come crashing back into the horror with a cut of downright frightening sound design on ‘Darkness’, it’s dusty lo-fi rhythm marching on fourth and into the fiery gates.



‘Artemis’ provides room to breathe as we awaken from our nightmare, getting our head above water before floating towards a kaleidoscope of tangled emotion.

London based producer, Morse Audio co-founder and Origins Sound resident Primrose readies five cuts of green coloured robotics and underwater-pop on Situ Records with the Highways and Treetops EP. 

Channelling the worlds of dream-pop, house, funk and techno, Primrose has carefully crafted an aesthetic that he calls ‘Blade Runner Techno’; honing in on cinematic experiences and blending them with deep rhythmic patterns and emotional otherworldliness. 

‘Impossible Summer’ is a chugging cut of atmospheric brain-dance; a wiggling sequence of uplifiting contemporary club, delivered in Primrose’s fresh and distinctive aesthetic, that blurs the lines between introspective home listening and front left.

The EPs title track is a psychedelic trip through the treetop highway. Mushrooms, woodland creatures and colourful flora & fauna appear in the clouds as the walls begin to breathe; angelic analog at its finest.  ‘QTPi’ channels synth-pop influence and combines it with glassy clinks and warm atmospherics on a tropical-trip through the multiverse. 

‘Mourning Song’ takes the EP on a left-leaning route – experimental patterns, brooding bass and glitching electronics threatening to spill onto the floor – before ‘I Tried To’ stays on the exploratory route with something of a shimmering cut of future ambience.

This week I’ve been exploring Ableton Live 12’s Corpus audio effect. Since this effect is particularly responsive to percussion, I worked exclusively with drums—though that’s by no means a requirement. What I found interesting is that you can actually shape a kind of melodic structure using nothing but percussion. This is probably because Corpus allows you to heavily transform the sound. It emulates different resonant materials to generate exotic, otherworldly tones.

For this week’s experiment, I used the C Dorian #4 scale.
