Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

Many, many years ago the Sun and the Moon lived together on the earth. Water was their best friend and they often came to see him. But water never went to see the Sun and the Moon in their house. "Why don't you come to see us?" the Sun once asked him. "I have too many friends," Water answered, "they will come with me. I'm afraid there will be no place for them in your house". "But I shall build a new big house," the Sun said. And the Sun built a very big house and then asked Water to come to him. Water came with all the fish and water animals. "May I come in with all my people?" Water asked. "Yes, come in," the Sun said. Very soon Water in the house was knee-deep for the Sun. Then in a minute Water was up to the Sun's head and came higher and higher with all the fish and water animals. At last Water was so high in the house that the Sun and the Moon went on to the roof and sat there. But soon Water came up on to the roof. What could the Sun and the Moon do? Where could they sit? And they went up to the sky. They liked the place and began to live there. Ramyen lives in the land of Peter Pan. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These three tracks can bring shining stars into a dark night. Arkadyan and Absentune are Peter Pan’s friends.

Almost to the day, a year ago the brilliant solo debut album by Alex Barck, „Reunion“, was released and caused quite a stir amongst the fans of sophisticated and boundaries- exploring dance music. A buzz lasting to this day, only considering all the different remixes that came out over the last twelve months. You can find them now, fourteen in number, nicely assembled in this digital release package. The ten reworks already officially released are joined by another four exclusive remixes, which haven't been available so far.

First of all we'd like to put a spotlight on the extraordinaire works by Ada (for “Doubter”), Kalabrese (for “We Get High”) and ComixXx (“Like A Drug”). Three remixes operating at the intersections of house, pop and leftfield you can't classify, and therefore influencing the sound of 2014. Even a lick more unorthodox come in the remixes by VECT, Full Crate and Mao. This is refreshing club music, somewhere between deep house and the sinister reincarnation of RnB.

But now let's shift the attention to the four remixes, which you don't know yet: Ronni Vindahl from Copenhagen goes one step further and turns „Move Slowly“ into a proper Soul-Funk track, including horns and guitars. This is as cheerful as it ever can be!

The two Berlin based producers Chopstick & Johnjon have a go at „Spinning Around“ and club the arrangement straight to the peak time of the (imaginary) best dance floor in the world. Captivating as well with the current sound of Berlin, one half of Âme, Frank Wiedemann does a mesmerizing job in remixing „Oh Africa“. Two times absolute world class and highest warranty for dance floor frenzy. London's Alex Patchwork, on the other hand, dismantles „Doubter“ in a fashion that only Jonatan Bäckelie's voice remains to be the single fundamental element floating on a fascinating, sentimental sea of futuristic sounds. Music for the morning after.

„Reunion Remixed“ is not just paying tribute to the infinite talent of Alex Barck, but is also a chronicle of all the prevailing trends and tendencies of current club music – be it in Berlin's underground clubs or on your headphones.

Laolu & Raoul K’s excellent debut EP for Compost Records is the perfect amalgamation of state of the art housemusic, african rhythm- and soundtextures being topped by the deep and spiritual vocals of Ahmed Sosso.

It’s not the first fruitful collaboration of Geneva based Laolu and Raoul K who’s living in Lübeck – a contemplative small town in the north of Germany. With their collective effort on „Sene Kela“, released on Raoul’s label Baobab in 2014, the duo easily brigded the gap between their african roots and modern house, between deepness and rave appeal. A truly adorable piece of dance music that deeply touched and left a lasting impression on Compost Records head honcho Michael Reinboth, who licensed the song for his long standing „Future Sounds of Jazz“ compilation series immediately. With „Djougou Yah“, Laolu and Raoul K are picking up this vibe again but turning the wheel even further – delivering two marvelous versions of the song. Besides the musical and magnificently orchestrated and arranged Original there’s the Perc Mix. With its punchy Kick drum, stripped back percussion work, striking synth arpeggios and an epic breakdown it’s got this perfect peaktime and festival appeal to it. The lyrics and vocals are written and performed by the african singer and musician Ahmed Sosso whose unique voice already pleased our ears on Manoo & Raoul K’s Innervisions „Toukan EP“ from last year. Music with a message – music that went straight into our hearts!

Exclusive Nyaruach 'Gatluak (Nandu Remix)'

Danish producer Rasmus Vincentz Jensen better known under his alias Nandu kicks off 2019 with a remix for Nyarach's track 'Gatluak' which underlines his preference for African vocals. Despite running at a speed of 114 bpm only the Copenhagener created a remix that easily fits into any peak time set as the sound-arrangement and the rhytmically yet stomping bass line seem to manage the balancing act of working at any time of the night. 'Gatluak' lives musically up on Nandu's last productions of 2018 when the Dane released his 'One Man's High Is Another Man's Anxiety' long player on Connected and skillfully tossed around with various elements that he put together to little masterpieces. For his remix approach to 'Gatluak' Nandu chose to create a symbiosis between implementing the original vocal sample and the right dose of percussions in combination with the carrying synth-melody. The way Nandu puts each piece of the puzzle together makes the final result sound like a march of liberation on the dance floor that not only dancers seem to join but has already gained heavy support from scene's key-players like Dixon.

Nyaruach's EP 'Gatluak Remixes' will be out January 11th, 2019 on MoBlack Records.

Niche live performer, DIY producer and London-based french composer roscius has spent the last years building himself a unique reputation in the alt music world. He launched his debut vinyl WMD#1* in a London Art gallery in 2015, where he performed whilst artist MRSCMillo painted the hand-numbered and signed sleeves in real time. (*= World Minimal Disco). 

Since then, eps and single releases have been flowing, with premieres on Clash Music, Xlr8r, Trax, or french Radio Nova, to name a few. Now a regular at Glastonbury and Wilderness Festival, roscius has recently joined international line ups at Amsterdam Dance Event (NL), We Love Green & InaSound (Paris), Hong Kong’s Clockenflap, FOST summit (NYC), Cyprus’s Afro Banana Republic. 

Mastering the art of improvisation, combining percussion experiments, lyric-less vocals, rare live sampling and harmonization skills, roscius “creates a unique and absorbing soundscape, genuinely innovative and emotional”. Touring independently around the globe also enabled him to collect handmade music instruments, from West African bongos, South American shakers, Asian gongs, Armenian tambourins to a small japanese analog keyboard (bought in a vintage market in Berlin); 

His most recent asset being a chromatic balafon made in Burkina Faso, which he plays the non traditional way, in order to create his very own organic musical and cinematic journey, sailing from an acoustic version of acid house to a warm minimal and progressive techno, with subtle touches of nu jazz, drill patterns, bulgarian inspired choral music, baile beats, neo classical textures or even elements of UKG, depending on the mood. His peculiar way of blending genres whilst live looping enabled him to share stages with heavy waits such as Crazy P, Jon Hopkins, Francesco Tristano, Coco Maria, Keiichiro Shibuya, Mikky Blanco, Acid Pauli, Terry Francis, Alfa Mist’s Johnny Woodham, Marc Rebillet, Jacques, Neon Indian or anglo-zulu (and Steam Down vocalist) DemiMa.

Not only did his travels widened his range of influences and his musical knowledge, but it also added to his hard drives countless field recording sounds, from which he draws his own crafted edits and original concrete sample bank. Sort of an audio diary. His productions have been warmly welcomed by the press, (Dj Mag, Ransom Note, Resident Advisor, Mixmag) and cheered by dj/artists such as 
Mr G, Worldwide FM’s Erica McCoy, Laurent Garnier, Stacey Pullen, Midland, Chaos in the CBD, Hugo Mendez (Sofrito), Horse Meat Disco, AFFKT, Arandel, Chloé, Danny Daze.. 

Being an enthusiastic and inclusive collaborator, Will J. A. Serfass (aka roscius) has occasionally partnered with various institutions (Hermès Foundation, Nissan, Bose Soundsystem, Eristoff, Chevignon); and performed in renowned contemporary arts museums such as Erarta in St Petersburg (RU), Kunstmuseum in Bern (SWZ), Guimet / Bourdelle / Arts Déco in Paris (FR). He remixed artists such as The 2 Bears (Southern Fried Records), Pouvoir Magique & Loya (Mawimbi), Calypso Rose (Because Music) and whether it’s his productions or his live sets, you might’ve heard him on air too (Rinse FM, Worldwide Fm, NTS, France Inter, Le Mellotron, Netil radio, Cercle, Arte TV).

Will J. A. launched “Nomadic Recordings” in 2019, with which he created Mesh Collective, virtually gathering more than 70 lone creatives from around the world during first lockdown to produce half a dozen tracks in a month and raise funds for Doctors Without Borders. Since his last sold out show at Peckham’s Rye Wax, and his latest ep “Collage” (OUT on Wormfood London!) roscius scored two short movies, an art exhibition and a contemporary theater play.
