Newcomers Brame & Hamo from Sligo in Ireland have teamed up for the first time ever for this fine deep debut EP. Brame already released on Morris Audio before and had a very successful EP together with Klansee last year. Even more new music is on the way for these guys in 2014 on labels like Drumpoet Community and Saints & Sonnets... so this will be a great year for them for sure and we are once again very happy to give you a first debut release on Dirt Crew!

“Street Urchin” and “Ghetto Lament” are two fine pieces of classics deep house with dark rolling bass lines and soulful chord progressions, the Piano sample in “Ghetto Lament” is a beautiful reference to the golden era of Disco. As a little extra we have none other than Glenn Astro & Imyrmind on the remix, these guys have been putting out some serious dope stuff lately and this remix is no exception... raw underground house music.

The last two tracks on this EP is “Retrospect” on the vinyl and “Fear In Rapture” as digital only track are more straight forward and stripped down stabby groovers with quirky acid lines that work extremely well on the dance floors ... road tested many times already...

Brame & Hamo will definitely make big waves with this release and we are happy to welcome them to the Dirt Crew family.

Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood imprint dips back into the electronic melting pot to compile its fourth “electr*c” compilation in as many years. The fruits of intensive exploration of the cracks and crevices within today’s wonderfully fractured bass music movement, Brownswood electr*c 4 features exclusive music from a new crop of up and comers. Some like Frenchman Nikitch and Belgian wunderkind LTGL are fresh out of the blocks, whilst the likes of Deft, Adam Elemental, Glenn Astro, D Tiberio and B Lewis have cultivated relative online infamy in recent times, each carving out their own unique path and singular artistry.

As usual we run the full gamut of styles, skipping from searing hypercolour hip-hop/bass hybrids; through ever so slightly wonky deep house; furious footworkin’ D&B that recalls vintage Metalheadz cuts circa ’96 (but somehow sounds steadfastly futuristic); awesomely drunken R&B; wrecking ball 808-driven bangerz; and introspective emo bumps… It’s a cluttered, chaotic, hyperactive kaleidoscopic trip – no doubt – but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Founded by Alex “Patchwork” Stevenson (Patchwork Pirates / Earnest Endeavours) in 2010, the aim of this series was very simply to replicate the ethos of Peterson’s much loved Brownswood Bubblers series and provide a platform for new, up and coming artists starting to make waves in the worldwide underground. It’s an approach that has characterised Gilles’s approach to DJing, broadcasting and music from the very beginning of his career and it lies at the very heart of his accidental slogan: “Searching for the perfect beat”.

The inaugural Brownswood electr*c in June 2010 provided a compelling snapshot of the dance music underground’s greyer areas, rounding up then newcomers (now major players) Shlohmo, Rockwell, 16bit, George Fitzgerald, Mosca and Mount Kimbie. Subsequent volumes burrowed deeper into the warren-like electronic landscape uncovering hidden treasures from Ta-ku, Koreless, Synkro & Indigo (these days known as Akkord), Stray (one third of Ivy Lab) and highlighted underground anthems by the likes of Dub Phizix and Krampfhaft, in addition to a whole raft of exceptionally talented newcomers.

Requires an special package, special cares and special vibes. And of course, we are talking about Summer, so we look for the perfect track of the season. Dancy, enjoyable, cheerful and very, very fresh. This year we have to say thanks to Purple Disco Machine and Teenage Mutants for giving us this outstanding summery track. Damn that's a happy song! 2014 was a big year for Scott Moncrieff AKA thatmanmonkz. Not only did his own label Shadeleaf become firmly established he dropped brilliantly received releases on both Kolour LTD and here on D.O.G.
Scott has managed to tread that fine line of simultaneously picking up props from all angles and wrecking dancefloors the world over whilst remaining resolutely underground and focused on the more interesting corners of dance music. RA rightly stated that ‘Despite the pivotal part his hometown has played in electronic music history, you can't shake the feeling that if this were the work of some auteur from Detroit, Thatmanmonkz would receive wider recognition from the house community.’ And that is why we love him!
Here on his follow up to last years Don’t Slip EP, he delivers 3 lo-fi, dusty, soul- tinged nuggets which have that unique yet instantly identifiable character only the most talented producers are capable of making. Opener In The Trees featuring the vocals of Kahill Anthony who adds a soulful touch to the raw, bumping groove set up by monkz. The kind of magic track that’ll get lodged in your mind and have the heads clamoring for the info when dropped on a big system. Flip over for Make It Now which treads a more familiar loopy disco path but does so in such fine style that you’ll be coming back to this one time and time again. Finally we have Sad n Blue which drops the deepness with fizzing Detroit padz and killer vox samples giving a nod to the moody one but with a throbbing bassline straight out of the nu school. thatmanmonkz is currently holed up in his studio making tracks for his debut LP which we’re happy to announce will be dropping towards the end of this year here on Delusions.

with debut EP ‘Our Society’. Since then a well-received remix of the 90s house classic Giv Me Luv’ and well-executed re-edits have further added to the buzz around the LA based outfit and their second EP  'Hidden Agenda' will no doubt fuel the fire of hype.

Picking up where ‘Our Society’ left off, 'Doe's Playas' and ‘I Can’t Understand’ pursue a dusty groove led aesthetic made up of well-cut samples. Diva vocal snippets , tribal tinged beats and filtered basslines make for an irresistible feel good combination.
'Secret Agent’ explores a deep techy house sound built around a playful filtered synth line and bouncey bass, primed for the dance floors.

Secret Society are not letting on any clues as to their identity but prove their talents once again. Hidden Agenda' lands early March on 1trax.
