As young black women growing up in the internet age, where the emphasis lies heavily on carefully crafted fantasy identities, I think we're starting to get a little lost in the sauce. Space Fruit was made to be like spoken word and addresses topics such as Afro-futurism, ancient Egyptian mysticism, belief in your self, self-love, and honoring ancestral connection. I really wanted to make a stripped back #emotional version that would play on its really great melodic structure. I reached out to my lovely friend @Wafia to sing a duet with me & mustered enough courage to jump on the first verse. I'm very proud of this song. I hope you enjoy it.
