I wanted to create a Lo-Fi track that was jazzy, sexy, and dreamy but also with a purposeful message. The quotes are from Rupaul, a prominent figure in the LGBTQ community. The quotes are about finding what makes you unique and powerful, cultivating that, and then “bringing to the party.” Most quotes are from a 1995 Oprah interview with Rupaul. The last quote, “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” is stated by Rupaul at the end of every episode of the popular American TV show Rupaul’s Drag Race. The message of this song, to me, means cultivating your uniqueness and the power it can have on the world. And at the same time, respecting and loving yourself so that you can also extend that love to others. That also means being unafraid to make music and share it with the wonderful SoundCloud community and beyond!
