''Kat Frankie spent her youth in the sunburnt suburbs of Sydney, scribing countless songs in her parents' sweltering attic. She moved to Berlin in December 2004, where she is known for her passionate, dynamic and riveting live shows. Kat performs both solo and with band; both incarnations feature powerful arrangements that give space to her incredible voice; reaching from tender, sparse melancholy to dramatic, soaring aggression.
Kat's debut album, "Pocketknife" was released in Australia in September 2007, and in Germany January 2008, and has been highly praised in both countries. Kat has also released an EP titled "outside.now." and appears on several independent compilations from Australia and Germany.
Kat also features in BerlinSong, a music documentary made by Uli Schueppel about songwriters in Berlin. The film was selected to premiere at the 2007 Berlinale Film Festival.

It's spring time, so about time for Habibi Funk's mother label Jakarta Records to drop another seasons compilation in the form of "Spring In Jakarta" and it's only right to for Habibi Funk to be featured too. "La Silence Des Cendres" is an unreleased Ahmed Malek track full of funky drums and a great arrangement. As always "Spring In Jakarta" will be a free DLL with free cassette tape copies available from selected retailer. Also be on the lookout for the limited t-shirt + tape combo we did together with the homies from inflammable.com. 

The track will also be featured on the upcoming Habibi Funk reissue of Ahmed Malek's work which you can listen to and order here:
