The Philharmonia Orchestra, founded in 1945, is a world-class symphony orchestra for the 21st century.
 
Led by its Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Philharmonia has a pioneering approach to the role of the modern-day symphony orchestra, reaching new audiences and participants through audience development, digital technology and learning and participation programmes.
 
The Philharmonia has been resident at Southbank Centre since 1995 and presents a Season of over 50 performances each year. Orchestral programming is complemented by series including Philharmonia at the Movies, Music of Today, the Philharmonia Chamber Players and an Insights Talks programme.

Vasilis Milesis is a film composer, music editor and orchestrator. He was accepted with a Scholarship and Assistantship at Berklee College of Music in the «Music for Film, TV and Games» Master Program, where he graduated with Summa cum Laude. He has worked as a music composer for many movies, advertisements and theatrical plays. He has also participated in several international film festivals (like Viba Fest in Argentina) and composing competitions, where he received awards and distinctions in «Music for film» and «Music for commercials» categories.

Between 2010 and 2012 he was ordered to compose music for four silent films at the prestigious Michael Cacoyiannis Silent Movies Festivals. He composed music for Buster Keaton’s «Balloonatic», «The Phantom of the Opera», «Faust» and «The Scarlet Letter». In 2013 he composed music for the movie «Juego de Niños», a Spanish movie from the very talented director David Iglesias. The music was recorded at Warner Bros Studios and the movie took the second place in the public awards at the ESCAC Festival. During 2014 he co-composed the music for the multi-awarded Mexican documentary «Mexico Pelagico», in which he was also the Mixing Engineer for a Dolby Surround production.

In 2015 he composed the music for the movie «Occupants» by Russell Emanuel. The score was performed by West European Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, he composed music for two more movies, «The Assassins Apprentice» and «Collar», while he received several international awards for the music of these movies. He is currently working as a composer for the last movie by Russell Emanuel «The Wisper».

During the last 3 years he won 6 International Awards and he was nominated for 6 more. Some of his wins include awards such as the Best Original Score at The Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood and Best Score for the Global Film Festival Awards. Some noticeable nominations include The European Independent Film Award for Best Score and the Utah Film Awards for Best Music Score.

For 2019, he is preparing the «Year of Humanity» project, his first CD with his compositions that were inspired by important facts that occurred from the previous century until now. For this occasion, he established an important collaboration with the Charlie Chaplin Foundation by including his speech from «The Great Dictator» on the first track of the upcoming CD called «Unite».
