Rotterdam Electronix returns with the long awaited follow up on Larionov and St Theodore debut release ''Bleak Warfare'' from 2019. Acid Ride 101 is another great collaboration of the Russian Electro purveyors.
They continue where they left after their Thunderstrike Ep on Cragie Knowes causing havoc amongst dancefloors worldwide. They proof to have the ability to make a strong remix of their own original cuts!

As announced by Fill-Lex Records, the Valencian label had planned to close at the end of the year, or the beginning of 2022, the series of Zar del Olimpo releases by Rise Black, a producer who divides his nationality between Russia and Greece, although he currently resides in Seville and is already one more in the Spanish electro scene, with several proposals such as Electronic Wave, which is regularly held in the Prisma room in Seville.

Maxim Gkikaev was planning to release a second volume of this cycle, thus bringing to an end this work composed of tracks created in the pre-pandemic era, between 2016 and 2019. This second part of Zar del Olimpo follows in the same wake as its predecessor album, a musical line oriented towards a primordial base derived from electro, however, various influences from other genres can be appreciated. 

On this occasion, the artist reduces the number of tracks, leaving the album with 7 tracks, as opposed to the 11 of the first volume. Zar del Olimpo Vol.2 starts with Artificial Dance, a track in which he shows great skill in combining structures and textures that we can perfectly place in styles such as electro, acid or industrial, as the physiognomy of its punch is forceful, its rhythm is syncopated and its scarce melody is hypnotic. END coincides very little with the previous cut, quite the contrary, since although it is rhythmically commanded by a break, the musicality is a very important element that is not always shown, since the arpeggio only appears on two occasions, as well as inverting the forcefulness of the punch with metallic percussive elements. Wolfs Forest closes side A with a great dose of originality, as Rise Black dedicates this track to this animal, with howls included and with an electronic sound background, electro in its purest state to vindicate the figure of the wolf.

Veneno (Version 2) opens side B with a lower level of dynamism than the previous tracks. On this occasion, it once again shows its electronic character and a slow cadence. Ugly But Cute is a cut with a bright sound and lacking in low frequencies, in which a neat rhythmic base is once again joined by two arpeggiated lines. Luz del Cielo is a track in which the impact of various styles can be appreciated and in which care is taken to ensure that its sonic nature is metallic and electronic. The album closes with Sad Goodbye, a new electro cut very appropriate to say goodbye to this series of releases.

Release date: February 7th.

The third episode, dedicated to the Budapest-based record label "Dalmata Daniel", is mixed by DDSS (aka Dalmata Daniel Soundsystem).

Dalmata Daniel label was founded on a summer night in 2015 by three friends, Dalmata Gergő, Daniel Jani and Max Sinclair. The first vinyl came out in 2016 by DJ Overdose and with two Hungarian local artists' remixes, S Olbricht and 12z. So far, it has been followed by 34 releases, mixed on physically and/or digitally only in a few series of EPs, Albums, Splits, Compilations, etc.

On our way back to Madrid, we’re glad to welcome on board one of those tireless music activists on the national scene, Redwan Chakrani (@redwan). Like many of us, he embarked on the electronic universe as an eager clubber in his hometown Barcelona in the early 2000s and has not stopped loving music since then. Nowadays he’s one of the heads of Trauma (@trauma-collective), a collective and label focused on the most authentic versions of leftfield techno. Yet, on this occasion, he offers a top-of-the-line electro selection bringing classics and present-day tracks together, from a sentimental approach to a more mental one. Enjoy it!

The hero of our today's program is Violet Poison. He started djing in 1994 but his first gig ever was in 2000. Lately, he started producing a kind of hypnotic techno music under the “Obtane” pseudonym. But he came back to his roots in 2014. He grew up with a wide range of music: synth-pop, Italo and bands like Cocteau Twins. The pseudonyms he uses to make music reflect these genres.   

This mix is exclusively made of seminal proto-industrial and experimental minimal music from obscure 80’s/1990-1991 tapes.

1. Which artists has influenced you the most? 
Liaisons Dangereuses and Trisomie 21 mostly, but I Iove anything that came out from the 80's. Lately I also have been inspired by the International Deejay Gigolos label, artists such Terence Fixmer and The Hacker.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 
I got a few collaborations that will come out in the near future, plus the Diana Berti's "The Hand That Seeds Death Part II and III" and new releases on my own label Veleno Viola.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 
There's so many good stuff around now. About my favorite labels, I would say Dark Entries, Mannequin Records, Minimal Wave, Frigio Records, She Lost Kontrol, Italomoderni  and more like that.

4. What inspires you now to create music? 
Lately the 80's Japanese synth-pop imagery, apart my deep passion for steampunk/sci-fi/erotic/horror movies from the 80's/early 90's.

5. If it's not a secret, what set-up do you use when creating music?

My setup is still a bit hybrid (hardware synths and some plugins) but recently I started to work hardware-only and the result, in terms of audio quality, it's much more impressive. Basically the synths I use are the Ensoniq ESQ-1, MFB Dominion 1, Yamaha DX7, Korg Poly 800, Octatrack MK1 and some more.
