Snakepiss is a Detroit, MI electronic musician and producer. Breeding grounds for found noise, creeping beats and imaginary horror soundtracks, Snakepiss' music is constructed late at night, on bargain bin headphones. 

Arson features downtuned choral voices, four-on-the-floor rhythms and ambient soundscapes dragged through dirty alleyways. Frantic energy bubbles over on lead single "Set Fire To The Living," while "King" and "Wind/Water" return to Snakepiss' signature sound of dark ambient creep hop. 

Arson is both a reaction and a rejection to the emotional palette from Snakepiss' Toil. Arson is about taking your feelings you've confined and swallowed - the miserable dread of wandering - and burning it to the fucking ground. Arson grabs Toil and says, "These are not my limitations. I reject this way of life."

Rotwang has an ear for melody and rhythm; each track chugs forward with a sense of purpose. It is a singular trait, however, that the purpose is often threateningly ambiguous.

This atmospheric dissonance characterizes Rotwang, and he is most visible when the sense of tension and dread woven into the anatomy of synth lines is made manifest. The effect is not achieved through any particular combination of effects or reliance on an overtly gloomy aesthetic. Rather, it is built as each track evolves and is perceived through those constant evolutions.

It is not all darkness and pounding hearts, though. In another move taken from the horror genre, Rotwang seems to enjoy having fun with the listener; some of the tensest moments dissolve into what edges very close to dance and pop. One eventually feels that the man behind the upheaval has a wry smile on. This is not the music of dour, humorless introspection.
