Parallel - Data Recording Programmed [Midnight People]

Owner of the interesting label U’re Guay Records, Imanol lands on the Varese-based imprint and party series this is not with his “BBY” EP, which consists of two solid originals and one groovy remix made with love by Italian duo we.amps (SXDNS285).

Hailing from Montevideo, Uruguay, Imanol is that kind of artist that, despite the young age, is greatly influenced by the ‘70s and ‘80s. Funk & Disco layers and elements are extremely present in his productions and sets, no wonder his tracks have met the likes of internationally acclaimed DJs like Folamour, Jacques Renault, Rahaan (SXDNS116), Javi Frías (SXDNS004), among others.

He is also a lover of good quality Disco-infused House Music – and this is precisely the kind of sonority he delivered on “BBY”. The title track, premiered here, brings the Uruguayan producer flirting with a Fidget atmosphere through the use of samples and a strong presence of synth arrangements, clearly showing Imanol's vision of electronic music.

Oslo label badabing diskos kicks off with a massive dance floor treat from legendary Norwegian producer diskJokke.

Known since 2008 for his international escapades with Prins Thomas's Full Pupp and the Smalltown Supersounds label, diskJokke has also played everywhere from Panoramabar Berlin to Space Ibiza and Liquid Room Tokyo. He has put out three superb long players, remixed indie acts such as Metronomy and The XX and now, after acquiring his Masters in Mathematics, he is back. He has a complex, weird and wonderful take on melodic and cinematic sounds, as proven by this terrific two-tracker.

Opener 'A Little TnT' wastes no time in locking you in on a wave of retro-future synth work while a squelchy bassline twists and turns below. It's an expansive and widescreen sound packed with the sort of melody that makes Scandi-disco so appealing.

The fantastic '90s' then takes you on a magical trip to the edge of the cosmos, with enchanting synth lines and buoyant drums all building to a crescendo. The mood then flips to acid-tinged disco house with warped lines and late-night menace, making for a truly adventurous track.

This is a terrific first EP from what is sure to be an essential new label.

Royston Summers kicks off 2022 with his new two-tracker ‘Endless / Forever Dreaming’ this March.

After successfully launching the Royston Summers project with a run of singles in 2021 which steadily gained recognition from a widespread variety of DJ’s and tastemaker platforms in the world of contemporary Nu-Disco, the UK artist continues to develop his catalogue with some fresh, dance floor focused material here.

‘Endless’ leads the release and lays down an amalgamation of intertwining, modulating arpeggio lines atop crunchy drums, hazy lead synths lines and squelchy acid-tinged licks.

‘Forever Dreaming’ then shifts focus over to dreamy, resonant pad lines, plucked synth tones and an eighties leaning bass hook alongside dynamically developing percussion.

The EP is composed of two original songs by Umvral (Addi de la Cruz) and three remixes made by: Aleito, Cu Da Curuxa and Parallel.

'Viva la trance' is in the frenzy of a fight for survival, composed from start to finish with trance music clichés and trying to never stop, that is, never slow down the beat and mixing different synthesizer sound on each moment.

'Veneno para las hadas' is a track inspired by the 1986 Mexican film of the same title specifically when narrating how the 'poison for the fairies' is elaborated by their natural enemies: the witches.

This EP captures how artist imagine the secondary effects of beign poisoned by the witches, undoubtedly a rush of pain, but accompanied by hallucinations and funny moments to make death more enjoyable.

Umvral is Addi de la Cruz, a dj and producer from Mexico City. Passionate about music since childhood, he has dedicated himself to collecting songs from all over the world, from the underground to the mainstream. This led him to be the main piece behind Veneno, where he serves as A&R and curator of the label's series of mixtapes. His productions and remixes range from Indie Dance, Downtempo, Techno, Acid, Break beats and Trance.

Exclusive: Joakim - Formosan Rock (Paula Tape Remix)

Iconic Paris-based artist Joakim released his Second Nature album around eight months ago to now return with the remix-edition of it. All remixers were handpicked by Joakim himself so the listener can experience meaningful and diverse approaches for the tracks. One of the remixers is Chilean-born and Italy-based Paula Tape, who has own works out on Italian label Alzaya, Rhythm Section International or Permanent Vacation or Correspondant. Musically diverse Paula took the deep Balearic route with her remix-treatment for Joakim's Formosan Rock creating a driving piece of music that lets the sun shine through with every single chord and beat. Elegantly and with class Paula's re-imagination of the track not only includes those soft, almost relaxing chords but also bird's tweeting among other spoken vocals. But when one thinks this track is more of a laid-back groover it takes up pace, includes another intriguing chord-sequence and prepares the dance floor for a magical ride into the sunset.

Joakim's Second Nature Remixes will be released on Tigersushi on May 27th, 2022.
