Without using the grave artifacts, they are a very difficult boss fight (around Undyne the Undying level I'd say). Now they're just a fly to the player.

98 : Power of a Thousand Stars

Backstory: 
Ku is a darkner who's been skeptical about the world around him for as long as he can remember. He crossed paths with a mysterious figure who didn’t really impress him. When this figure revealed the truth about the dark world, Ku just laughed and said he was already aware of it. Recognizing Ku's sharp intellect, the figure decided to recruit him as their "assistant." 

Together, they started experimenting to see how darkners reacted to the harsh realities of their existence and aimed to find more smart darkners like Ku. However, just spreading the word didn’t seem convincing enough, according to Ku. He encouraged the mysterious figure to create something called "the shadow crystal." 

This crystal held forbidden knowledge that many darkners wouldn’t take lightly. It contained the essence of countless broken souls and served not just as a truth-telling device but also as a source of strength for its possessor. Once they finished their invention, they parted ways, each trying to influence darkners across various dark worlds. Eventually, the mysterious figure regretted the lives they had impacted negatively; not only did they fail to recruit anyone, but they also left lasting scars on those darkners. They decided it was time to find a way to make amends for their mistakes. Meanwhile, Ku viewed the lives of these darkners as mere experiments. He was ready to do whatever it took in the name of knowledge and science. After their shadow crystal project didn’t pan out, they shifted their focus to something even more... intriguing.

Presence Story:
Kris had gathered all seven shadow crystals, but then things took a turn for the worse. They were attacked and captured by Ku, a notorious scientist known for his role in wiping out the sanity of the secret bosses. Ku's main goal was to capture Kris and use their soul to power his creation, the Null Soul. This entity was formed from the shattered pieces of Lightner souls that had passed away.

The Null Soul was designed to surpass the original seven souls by lacking any traits, making it invulnerable and capable of doing everything the seven could do. During the confrontation, Ku revealed he had a master who wanted to keep their work under wraps. To protect this secret, Ku needed to silence Kris and eliminate all the secret bosses who had allied with them.

After Kris struggled against the Null Soul, their life was unexpectedly spared when Ku received a command from his master to let Kris go and bring them to him instead. So, for the time being, Ku decided to release Kris.
