In the dead of winter Roxy Mercier and Ian Bennett forgot it was 2012 and decided to make music as if it was 1969. Combining Bennett’s instrumental abilities and Mercier’s vocal prowess and using their love for soul music they produced a sound that could date back to the times of soul train and groovy hair do’s. 

Inspired by the sweet sounds of Motown, Southern Soul, R'n'B, and Funk, “Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound” create original soul music that harks back to the “good ol’ days” yet maintains a youthful and current edginess. 

Roxy and Ian met the rest of the band met whilst gigging around the Halifax music scene and with their mutual love for funk and r n' b, Roxy and The Underground Soul Sound became the upbeat, soulful band they had envisioned. 

The five foot firecracker of funk, ‘Roxy’ on Lead Vocals backed by Ian Bennett (Bass), Matt Gallant (Drums) Andrew MacKelvie (Sax), Adam Hewey (Guitar) make up the band that promises a night of grooving and good vibes.
