House Of The Rising Sun

This is my overdub of my arrangement of Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral from Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin.

There's a popular trombone choir arrangement of this piece that changes the key from E flat major to B flat major. The B flat arrangement was played at my wedding as the final piece of prelude music to tremendous affect (THANKS TO Rusty McKinney, Bill Zehfuss, Brian Woodbury, Craig Moore, Will Kimball) . It's a fabulous arrangement.

A few weeks ago, as part of a celebratory concert of Wagner and Verdi's 200 birthday, the Pittsburgh Symphony performed Elsa's procession to the Cathedral in it's original key of E flat...it got me thinking..."What would it sound like for trombone ensemble in it's original key of E flat?!?"

Never one to shy away from a challenge, I got the score and went to work on this overdub...which hovers around high E flats, Es and Fs...fairly plentifully... But this key also opens a whole lower octave as well...there are 5 octaves of E flats in the last chord. Pretty incredible sonority! Such an amazing piece.
