“August Ghosts in a Gold Haze” is a neon-soaked, late-summer heartbreak anthem that blends melodic post-hardcore emotion with a euphoric electronic pulse. The song feels like sneaking into the fairgrounds after closing hours—where the Ferris wheel flickers like a broken memory, ticket stubs are still in your pockets, and every color from the cotton-candy sunset still stains your chest.

Confession-driven vocals cut through warm future-bass chords and detuned saw leads, while palm-muted guitars pulse beneath swirling ambient reverb and side-chained pads that breathe with every beat. The verses drift like lost carnival lights, nostalgic and slow-burning, reflecting on names carved into the carousel paint, cherry cola kisses, and a jacket that still smells like sage and ocean air.

The chorus erupts into a midnight festival release—an anthemic, bittersweet drop packed with glitch-kissed vocal chops, sparkling arpeggiated riffs, and punchy pop-trap percussion. It hits with the dizzy rush of a tilt-a-whirl in motion and the ache of knowing not all forevers stay sweet. Bright synths shimmer over driving pop-punk tempo as the hook declares:

“We were August ghosts in a gold haze…
Now I’m walking through the memory of a midway.”

The track lives in that space between holding on and letting go—a world built from bleachers, neon lights, and borrowed freedom, where laughter once drowned out the dark days. It’s upbeat but aching, euphoric but haunted, perfect for fans of genre-bending heartbreak: a soundtrack for anyone who still runs through old fairgrounds in their mind just to feel a heartbeat that isn’t there anymore.

Hotly tipped indie-electronic four piece Native People return in 2016 with their fresh new single and sound, 'Don’t Save Me’ released as part of Killing Moon’s January Compilation Album.

Youthful and full of ambition, Reuben (22), Luke (22), Connor (19) & Hudd (19) have combined classic 80s synths with fresh indie-electronic ties drawing influence from contemporaries like Shura, Friendly Fires and Two Door Cinema Club. Don’t Save Me is no exception, every inch the summer anthem with sharp guitars, warming synths and melodic vocals arriving in time to welcome lighter evenings and hotter days.

Support for the four piece has grown rapidly since the release of their debut single, Calm Forever which saw the lads secure titles such as Record of the Week (BBC Introducing Kent) and Discovery of the Week (Amazing Radio) plus feature on the likes of Clash, AMBY & Spindle.

The quartets vivacious live set saw the lads sell out Club NME at London’s prestigious, Koko and caught the attention of indie experts Propaganda. Eager to get their new show on the road, Native People will be heading back out in the van on a UK mini-tour in March 2016.
