"Velocity" is the first Stig solo release since 2013’s ambient work "Hydrocycle". A single album length composition in two parts, Velocity is not about speed, it is about movement and displacement.

The music moves through a number of styles and forms, blending classic game sounds with prog rock, fusion and electronic dance music, developing and evolving as it moves forward, only looking back to realize how far it has come.

It plays out as one big cinematic night time adventure in the city, with music that takes you through nightclubs, city streets,
motorways and busy plazas, where the city is defined and laid out before you but the journey is yours and yours alone as a listener.

This is music intended with the scope of a video game, a world for you to exist in and make your own, but set in the real world, an adventure for your ears within the great adventure that is your life.

A purely electronic work diligently programmed one note at a time, setting the classic chipsounds of the MOS Technology SID and YM2612 against the vintage electronic drums of the Roland TR-909 and a contemporary rock and dance sound, Velocity is not merely nostalgia, but music truly for 2015 and for everyone who has grown up in the classic era of gaming.

Stig - Velocity, Part Two

Here's one of the big awesome projects I was working on - at last!
It's a remix of the song Infinity (which is an AWESOME song, by the way, check it out) written for the album "The Ecstasy of Life" by DDRKirby(ISQ) which just came out today!

This is actually the first remix I've ever done, so that was interesting. Most of the melodic content is mine, and even some of the progressions are my own. I use some of the original track as a baseline to work on top of, but at points I diverge wildly, so hopefully it comes off as somewhat cohesive. There's actually only one point where I call out the main melody of the original. See if you can guess where...

Anyway, I kinda pulled out all the "johnfn"y stops for this one, since they were kinda in line with the style of his music. I don't really plan on writing such a big explosive chiptune song like this again (though I have been known to be wrong before). Where to go from here, I wonder...


Infinity (johnfn's +1 remix)

Once upon a time there was a peaceful and numb world, it was all so boring... until the invasion began. The Blast Processor may have made some bullet holes, but it also made that world wake up.

This album is my repay for a lot of things and people I met in my life and made my mindset what it is now (a mess of beautiful gamey musicy stuff). Starting from my Genesis console when I was a kid, the games I played then, the people that I met who shared the love for that console and that sound the people that introduced me to the pure YM2612 music creation, the people that made me love and make chiptunes and the people that makes the tools so that we arttists can burst out all that love into music.

This version includes remixes by my awesome friends Jredd and swerdmurd!

You'll also find a ROM that you can load into your favorite Genesis/MegaDrive emulator (I recommend KFusion) or in a flash cartridge to play it in real hardware!

Also my FIRST Soundcloud upload to feature my new Stereo NES, which consists of 2 NES machines firing into the left and right speakers simultaneously.  All panning effects are achieved by leveling the volumes differently on the 2 speakers with duplicated notes / channels.
