Love this, thanks @bassling and Oscar. Reminds me junto 0529, I went for a 23/8 groove then, now here, as requested a  29/16 pattern, 29 measures of it. Spent the whole Thursday morning on this. 
29/16....tried to make that bastard  groove, and failed magnificently.

Regarded as the father of contemporary haiku, Masaoka Shiki was a poet and literary critic during the Meiji period Japan.

He advocated realistic observation by “sketching” (shasei) poems and going out into nature with notebooks, thus abandoning the traditional subjects of haiku of the time. His advice for an aspiring poet was, “Use both imaginary pictures and real ones, but prefer the real ones.”

Although I've heard plenty of glitch inspired electronica through the years, I don't think I've listened to a Clicks + Cuts compilation till now. The tracks gave me a good understanding of what to strive for.  I'm not familiar with Achim Szepanski and Mille Plateaux records, so this has been a nice learning process. Condolences to his loved ones, friends and fans on his untimely passing.

This was created in Ableton Live using a variety of its instruments, samples, and effects – along with Max for Live devices, Slate + Ash Choreographs and Spectres. A vocal sample of a lecture from freesound.org was also used. This turned out a lot less abstract and sparse than I originally envisioned, but I had a good time putting it together.

This Disquiet Junto prompt in honour of the late Achim Szepanski and the "clicks_+_cuts" compilations issued through his Mille Plateaux label made me revisit my past: I used to produce clicks'n'cuts tracks and perform them live with my band. That work was inspired by Jan Jelinek/Farben/Gramm, Andrew Pekler, Pole, Akufen, Swayzak, Perlon, ~scape and, of course, Mille Plateaux.

I found this to be an exhiliarating ride upon wave after wave of inspiration. Couldn't help but extend it and name it Chaiselongue -- so much fun working on this, hope you're having at least as much listening to it!

This was quite a rush job, starting with sample hunting in my very own treasure trove, finding micro samples of cuts, bursts of noise, vocal snippets -- then proceeded to recording some sub bass lines with my Fender Jazz bass, Boss Octave and Moogerfooger Lowpass Filter -- shuffled everything around until it felt halfway right -- et voilá!

One of the things that stood out to me in the music on the first Clicks_+_Cuts compilation from Mille Plateaux, was how in several pieces shifts in foreground and background are used as the main source of musical development. Parts that start in the background move to the fore, while others that were in the centre move to the periphery.
In the piece I made, I've tried to centre this approach. it consists of three main layers, a kick/bassdrum layer, a percussion layer and layer of slowly moving tonal material (mostly swells). The source material for these layers was made using a zither played in a variety of ways (harmonics, extended technique etc) and treated in real time (as I was playing) with various digital effects 
Subsequently, I mixed the layers and used mainly delays, reverb and filtering, as well as stereo processing, to draw the listeners attention to the different layers, creating shifts in foreground and background.

Dolores has a plan. She's able to think faster than humans, she's stronger both physically and emotionally. The car chase is not visibly stressful for her. She's in a state of flow. She's in the zone.

This is the feel I wanted to communicate with my submission for the Spitfire Audio soundtrack competition. But also add Caleb's sense of drug-induced amazement. What we end up with is a music video with a constant song that you can bob your head or tap your feet to. A state of flow.

Finally, I wanted to make a sharp change in the soundtrack when Caleb's drug is "switching genres". Hence the quirky waltz in his film noir section.

Technical details:
- sequenced in Ableton Live
- the soundtrack is (mostly) 92BPM, some very minor adjustments are made to ensure key moments fire to the beat
- the main theme is in B minor, played by two Moog Mother-32 synthesizers set up in stereo
- the tuned synthetic percussion made with a Moog Subharmonicon pushed through a KORG OD-S vacuum tube overdrive
- the piano is Pianoteq 6
- drums are NI Polyplex
- the sub bass is a civilized Circuit Mono Station

This version is different from the actual soundtrack. I removed most of the original sound effects and voices since they didn't work without the video. I left some that sounded good given what's happening musically.
