'nobody else' is the first song I wrote for my new album coming out this summer. Last year while touring in London I opened for PJ Morton at his sold out Jazz Cafe show. Before my last song, I told the crowd that it was inspired by one of my favorite bands, Jamiroquai. Their newest member, Nate Williams, was in the crowd that night and after the show we connected to schedule a session at his London studio a week later. Nate knew exactly the sounds and vibe I was looking for and helped pave the way for a new album.- <3 Raquel

Amber Navran and I have been friends since we went to music school together at USC in Los Angeles. I’ve shared a lot of my emotions and feelings with her over the past 10 years and recently, I struggled trying to voice how I felt about a particular event. I often feel like the people in my close circle have great intentions but sometimes make the wrong decisions when trying to execute those intentions. I had this issue with my parents. When talking with Amber about it, she could sense how strongly I felt about this issue but also sensed that I wasn’t coming from a place of anger, yet trying to find a place of gratitude and acceptance when things don’t always go my way. I know it’s important to take responsibility of your own life, but I also know how important it is to have a solid support team, even when they make mistakes. Despite these mistakes, I know that I need these people in my life and I know I would prefer the few mistakes over being alone when I need support the most.

Working with Amber on this tune was easy and so fulfilling. She's an incredible musician and her style of beat making has grown on me very fast. Her band Moonchild, performed at the same cruise festival that I did, (The Capital Jazz Supercruise) in January 2020 and we first started writing the song while at sea. We listened to...  more

LA native, Raquel Rodriguez, is a Mexican-American R&B/soul singer who draws inspiration from the greats of our time; Prince, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, D’Angelo and Amy Winehouse. Raquel is the true embodiment of the multi-cultural millennial, fusing the subcultures of the last 30 years of LA style with her nostalgic, yet current, brand of music.
