Total Annihilation Beach is the latest collection from Caveman LSD, one of the handful of monikers of Special Guest DJ / uon / sometimes just shy. Their releases under this name have always had the character of sonic transmissions – crushed sine-waves hurtling out of a wormhole, remote pirate radio bandwidths, whale-song picked up on radar, and so on. Here, the signal seems to come from a place whose remoteness is not defined by distance, but adjacency: these are alternate reality bops.

(Tumulte) is a sound and visual installation by Juliette Henrioud that aims to question its environment and stimulate introspection. By combining these two mediums, the intention is to illustrate the search for inner peace amidst turmoil. The visuals and sound piece come together to offer a personal and intimate interpretation of the emotions felt during a period of obstacles. The
chosen title aims to express the delicate balance as well as the strength of this phase of reconstruction, an in-between stage where all possibilities exist, and anxieties are present. With inner echoes and murmurs, (Tumulte) invites you to examine your shifting thoughts and experiences
in order to find yourself.

The sound piece features field recordings, melodic layers, and a text from the diary of the artist David Wojnarowicz titled «seeing myself seeing myself sitting by an open window.» The aim of the piece is to depict the inner struggle in the pursuit of personal peace. The various textures and words used in the composition attempt to illustrate this inner turmoil.

The paintings aim to portray this never-ending and challenging movement of
thoughts and inner turmoil.

The carpet provides an opportunity for the audience to sit and listen to the sound piece.

Gabriele Gasparotti’s second full length album, Tropismi, is a collection of mesmerizing compositions with masterful polyrhythmical textures and harmonies, strings, prepared piano, magnetic tape and field recordings. Gasparotti's unique style uses classical composition techniques such as counterpoint, canone inverso and serialism to create morphing expanding harmonies continuously.

Tropismi features stunning cellotronics by Benedetta Dazzi, cellist and sound designer with which Gasparotti established an intense collaboration during the past years. The album has been recorded on a full analog reel-to-reel setup and mastered by Rashad Becker at Clunk (Berlin).

“In my latest release I tried to seize the instant moment, the kairos or Greek kairological time: "shooting" the instant with an on-the-fly recording of the performance on magnetic tape. While recording, I noticed that in several instances the compositions grew beyond the idea I had set out with: for example, some unforeseen elements started to emerge due to the interaction of the sound with the surrounding space. Though they were seemingly uninfluential, they made the compositional idea gradually slide into unexpected territories, arousing certain sensations in me that would suggest a particular atmosphere, image or state of mind – a judgement that moved my way of manipulating the sound and at times suggesting even a possible title for a sonic idea that was meant to represent nothing but itself. 
This interaction between the sound and my mind reminded me of the biological phenomenon of tropism: “The turning of an organism, or part of it, in a particular direction in response to an external stimulus”. So, in this work I expressly entitled Tropismi, I investigated those movements which appear to me as being the engine of existence and of expansion of the Universe”.

Gabriele Gasparotti is a composer based in Italy who specializes in electroacoustic music on analog gear. A classical trained pianist and violist, Gasparotti studied composition and electronic music with Riccardo Sinigaglia and Giuseppe Giuliano at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan and the West Coast synthesis with Todd Barton.

After the album Calques recorded live during a concert, Novembre returns with Encore, a double studio album,
the result of a long maturation in terms of form, composition and playing. As they have been doing for more than ten years, Romain Clerc Renaud and Antonin Tri Hoang have constructed a complex poetic form, made up of multiple back-and forths between simple and gentle themes (Encore, Petit Matelot) or very fast ones (LetCo, Klaxon); between very short pieces (Miniatures) and large developments (Continuum). Everything is arranged by the play of contrasts and resonances: a piece is interrupted to be continued later (Please wait), a motif is metamorphosed by dint of repetition (Encore), a piece is played again, but as quickly as possible (Letco Flash). The second CD of the album illustrates another side of the art of montage. Marc Baron recorded Novembre while they were working on Encore, using the most varied materials and techniques (tape recorder, hydrophone, boom box, spring, tape loops). With this harvest he has constructed an electroacoustic piece that diverts, amplifies and transforms the music of Novembre.

Crayon - Home Safe (feat. Yamê & Tora)

Okokon returns to Other People with his sophomore album, 'Offering', delving deeper into the lush and cinematic soundscapes he first explored on his debut album, 'Turkson Side'. While primarily working in visual arts, Africanus Okokon, who records under his surname, bridges his artistic practices in 'Offering', using his masterful collage techniques to create his most personal work yet. Defying easy categorization, the album melds influences from dream pop, avant-garde folk, psychedelia, trip hop, and dub, with traces of field recordings seamlessly blended throughout to form a cohesive whole.

'Offering' sees Okokon confronting and negotiating a sudden and unexplained death that occurred in his childhood and the complex emotions left in its aftermath, acting as his main inspiration when making the album. This ambiguity is something that permeates throughout, with Okokon wanting to explore the ambivalence and sometimes uneasiness of contradicting emotions appearing simultaneously, alluded to in the album title. This is also reflected in how the album tracks each inhabit different narrators with varying perspectives on the same events. The result being a hauntingly beautiful album, with recurring themes of death, growth, sacrifice and spirituality ever present.

Pan Daijing announces her debut album, ‘Lack 惊蛰’, on PAN this July.

Culminating as the purgative ‘finale’ to her improvisational live performances, Pan Daijing’s debut album also offers an insight to her future works. The process was intuitive and raw, born out of her previous explorations. Over the past 2 years, she has composed, recorded and edited different concerts and field recordings across Europe, China, and Canada, forming the basis of the record. Arriving as her first full-length album, ‘Lack 惊蛰’ was crafted from this long, painstaking mental and physical practice.

Daijing’s pieces are created around a very intense and intimate mental catharsis, often expressed through a close physical interaction with strangers in her live sets which seek to engage them in a highly personal way. “When I was finalising this album, they didn’t feel like tracks to me anymore, but more like a psychoanalytical process,” she says. “I saw myself being this absurd, mad person ‘acting’ out the sounds… It’s rather physical, and became like a mindgame. All things came out naturally as part of me.”

The narrative of the album presents a perspective of the world as ‘the theatre of our minds’ - where Daijing sees the record as an ‘opera piece’ in its storytelling and drama.

The release is mastered by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Ralf Marsault, and artwork by Bill Kouligas.
