"I recorded this set on a Friday night at Kasheme. I got to play for the first time in our newest lounge, the Gallery. From the beginning I knew what direction I was going to play, as quiet as possible - Kasheme style. In the end I entered the venue with 4 big record cases and played for over 8 hours.  I am very happy to contribute this set to my friends from Ojoo Music Ghent for their fruit series. I hope that this set will bring peace to the listener during this times....- Soulmate

Good Fruit 17 I Soulmate (Kasheme)

Upcoming Dutch duo, Broj, impress on "Brothers", an emotive acoustic-meets-electronic number for the Nie Wieder Schlafen imprint.

"Brothers" is taken from Broj's otherwise more house-focused EP, called 'Revere', that follows a handful of self-releases and another EP for Minds Alike.

Their Nie Wieder Schlafen debut hosts 3 diverse productions, ranging between acoustic-focused electronica to more house influenced grooves. "Brothers" is a clear statement at the potential range of Broj, already very much capable of creating widely appreciated electronica productions for masses, while the finishing track "Real Eyes" delivers a club oriented vision that feels more stripped, offering deeper spaces within the same framework of the duo's evolving but already somewhat distinctive style.

'Revere' is released on March 28 on digital only.

A carnival-inspired oasis of love & dancing set in the beautiful countryside just a heartbeat outside of London, Campo Sancho is a small but perfectly formed family-friendly music & arts festival. Independently organised and thoughtfully curated the festival was created by Sancho Panza based on years of experience throwing basement jams, warehouse parties, boat parties and legendary Carnival street parties.

Dicky has been playing for Sancho Panza for many years now on boats and at Campo Sancho. He is a big fan of the community vibe that over 25 years of togetherness have constructed at the heart of everything that they do.

So welcome to his Campo Sancho 2022 Mix, a mix of sounds in celebration of this year’s event. Just under 2 hours of only the good stuff for your ears.

Born in Wyoming and raised in Missouri listening to bluegrass and country music. Later, his nocturnal radio adventures helped him fall in love with southern soul.
At fifteen Jeb Loy Nichols heard his first punk record and he was changed for good. In 1979 at 17 he received a scholarship to art school in New York. Dubbed ‘Fear City’ it was gritty, street-smart and a hotplate of new ideas. Punk was over but hip-hop was starting and Nichols became obsessed with this new musical expression. His first recording, in 1980, was an unreleased rap song called ‘I’m A Country Boy’.

In 1981 he visited friends in London and found himself living in a squat with Ari Up (from the Slits), Neneh Cherry and Adrian Sherwood, who put Jeb to work moving boxes of records across London. Sherwood and his complete disregard for genre purity have been one of Nichols biggest influences.

‘Sweet Sweet Stay Awhile’ was recorded around 2000, Jeb Loy - I wrote what I thought was a country song and imagined it having steel guitars and fiddles. When we got into the studio everything changed. I was working with the great bass player Wayne Nunes, who played with African Head Charge and Tricky, and he brought a new feel to it. It started to morph into something I hadn’t expected. 

The track also features the backing vocals of the talented Loraine Morley, and was cut in a fast creative session and then, when finished, they had no idea what to do with the hybrid of British folk, American country, Caribbean bass, electronica and hip-hop. It sat around for 20 years before finally being released here.

Nichols is an American living on a remote Welsh smallholding. Dubbed ‘The high priest of country cool’ by Rolling Stone Magazine.
