In the beginning I was all like...  
"Hello, 4-string Bass.  Meet 6-String Guitar."
And that is how its been.
But then things started to change...

6-string has always wanted to be so much like its lower tuned counterparts and didn't really like to play with some of its higher notes.  No matter how hard it tried, it simply couldn't ever go low enough.  So one day after a much needed bath, it decided to try on a set of 7-string clothes.  As it finished getting dressed, it wondered "Do I have the attitude to back this up?"

Hell yeah it did!  It sounds so fucking brutal!

Now of course, the many 4-string bass brothers were like..  "WTF dude?  Where did this come from?"
So I was all like...  "Yo, 4-strings, 6-strings, and the cross dressing 7-string wannabe, Meet 5-string!"

They all stood there.  Silent.  Staring at one-another.  They had just got done seeing what that cross-dressing 6-string freak of the family did not that long ago.
I wonder how this is gonna go down...

Red Calling is a hard rock band out of Tampa, Florida. The band's full lineup comprises Jessica Pons on vocals, guitar, and keys, Javier Pons on guitar and programming  and bassist Luis Pons. The band's style displays an array of rock/metal genres that draw from a variety of influences (Linkin Park, Korn, Radiohead, Deftones, Thrice, Lacuna Coil) and incorporate electronic elements. ﻿

Project started by Steve Jacobson, former guitarist and co-founder of the Nor Cal Death Metal Band, Forsake The Flesh. Steve previously played with other metal bands Silent Rage, Moment Of Clarity, and InfluenceTheWeak, also from Northern California. Steve moved to Erie, PA in 2007, which gave him the opportunity to start work on his own project that has been brewing for years. REQUIEM FOR OBLIVION is a 'hybrid metal' concept project/CD based on his years struggling with inner demons (i.e. drugs, booze, depression, self-destruction in almost every form) and the years since silencing those demons... Helping him with the recording process and the first to join the "live" version of RFO is drummer Mike Bryan, who ironically, moved to Erie from Reno just a month prior to Steve moving there. Mike previously played for post-punk band The Turbine Saints and the rock band Primate Envy, both out of California.  Through a twist of fate, they were put together and have been working on completing the demo with a full length to be released at the end of 2010. All recordings have been done by the two with live performances being carried out by a variety of local musicians until the addition of Geoff Radziszewski on guitar in 2011 and Andy Laughner on bass in 2013.  The band’s mix of ambient, progressive metal provide their audience with a dynamic musical experience reminiscent of Opeth, Agalloch, Daylight Dies, and My Dying Bride. In addition, there are some acoustic steel and classical string sequences as well. Mostly ghostly, clean vocals with some guttural moments from time to time. There is something for most everyone at an RFO show.  RFO has played live with national and regional acts such as Katatonia, Intronaut, Tesseract, Cult Of Luna, Kataklysm, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Mushroomhead, Ventana, Kriadiaz, Foose, Demons Within, Here Lies Another, Disgraced and Mechanics of Things. Plus, the band has played acoustic versions of their songs at many of the local venues around the Erie area. 

Influences:

Opeth, Rush, Between the Buried and Me, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Green Carnation, Agalloch, Daylight Dies, Swallow The Sun, and My Dying Bride (lots of death, black, and prog metal influence); but with a very ambient, dreamy quality mixed in. RFO currently covers songs by Alice In Chains and Tears For Fears.
