One of Stockholm’s finest exports, Elfenberg arrive at Bordello with four slices of synthesizer goodness. The duo open with “Forever Alone”. A cruising arpeggiator steers its way through glistening snares, rolling kicks and classic italo vocals. Night falls in the jungle “Conga Coronation”. The treetops bristle with birdsong, thickets of bongos, toms and rain sticks lead a path to dawning melodies. A wonderfully textured percussive piece, the track is intricately carved and demonstrates the diversity and depth of Elfenberg. The disco dipped futurism of “Sphere Of Missing Out” follows. Echoes of “Conga Coronation” rhythms are countered by beaming synth bars and vocoder lyrics with the Swedish pair pushing for the floor. “Cosmic Tribune” is the curtain close. Astral chords, spiralling key shifts and incising drums coalesce in this space inspired finale. A truly stunning debut from this talented partnership.

His previous release on Mélopée with the single « Arena » was the occasion to announce Brandski’s debut album. It was also a preview of the musical themes he will develop.

The owl is really proud by the trust established with the artist.
We hope to give Brandski the visibility he deserves !

The challenges Brandski sets, was to merge his broad influences from Disco, EBM and Electro in a united work. He perfectly matches theses vintage fields to more contemporary and future territories. Like an orchestra conductor, he develops melodics rises, supported by chords on top on cutted bass line.

The whole package is made to drive the listener on his journey, from calm and mental songs to brute and dancefloor patterns. To use the words of the artist : “the purpose of the album is to carry the listener, from a point to another, from introspection to self-surrender.”

We are also happy to have Austher on board, another incredible french artist ! He joins Brandski on the track « Disco Dance » and give it a melodic touch !

I feel both excited and honored to have Max Essa as my first guest for my Lost In Transition show on Radio AlHara, an incredible artist who has been active as a DJ and producer since the early 90s, initially releasing music on labels such as Warp Records and Paperecordings and DJing alongside the infamous D.i.Y Sound System.

I recall the moment I first listened to his work, a few years ago, which felt like a revelation to me as it followed no rule and surely, couldn't be categorized into one genre.

His productions, which were mainly inspired by natural elements like the sound of waves crashing on the shores, held a very organic touch and a whole package of emotions, going from Joy to Melancholia, which were sometimes present all at once in just one track.

No wonder that his work, for labels like Is It Balearic? Recordings, went on to be playlisted by leg-ends such as Andrew Weatherall and David Mancuso who are best known for their quests of emotionally-engaging and beautifully-weaved grooves. His albums for the Japanese major label, Victor Entertainment (Vacations Never Taken' 2015) and Music For Dreams (Lanterns' 2018), plus EPs for the Italian label, Hell Yeah! Recordings and a constant stream of remixes, have shown him to be a deeply imaginative and prolific producer.

For the past decade Max has held two DJ residencies in Tokyo, Lone Star at the legendary, Bar Bonobo with Ken Hidaka and Dr Rob (Ban Ban Ton Ton) and Fridays at the ever-popular Aoyama Tunnel.

The mix is a condensed version of the kind of things he plays for the first 2-3 hours of the night at his 12 year residency at Aoyama Tunnel in Tokyo

Lost In Transition w/ Max Essa (Radio Alhara 28.04.2023)

Hailing from Paris, where he holds residency and curate event at le Discobar, Maybeman, as most products of 80's and 90's culture, regards synth & sample based music with equal fascination and has developed keen ears for most forms of dance music adjacent to those decades.

His penchants for groovy and frantic tracks are integral parts of both his selections and his work as a producer and are what makes him a DJ happy to play with good or bad intentions.
For this podcast he went for a wide selection of mostly easygoing or optimistic vintage grooves and tracks refering to the late 80's and early 90's club

Paramida made her name as an integral part of the new Berlin school of DJs embracing a more expansive sound, a charismatic and eclectic idealism beyond the steady, straight-forward pulse of house and techno. Following five years at the city’s diverse OYE Records store, and alongside an international schedule of DJing, she has spent the previous five crafting her Love On The Rocks label in that same generous spirit.

Now, with half a decade passed, she has called upon many of the label’s previous associates, alongside some new faces, to curate a four-disc compilation produced upon the adventurous and personal principles upon which the label was founded. The title of the collection is ‘Supergau’, which Paramida explains to mean "A disaster beyond all expectations". It’s a typically pithy title for a label that’s found a unique groove between dancefloor fulfillment and surprising turns, keeping it’s dedicated buyers and open-minded DJs on their toes, just as Paramida likes it. Still, it hasn’t always been easy.

“Those 5 years didn't fly by,'' admits Paramida. “I had moments of doubts and thoughts about stopping the label. But something inside didn't let it happen. So whatever I'm doing with the label is something that is so deeply rooted in me that I'm not ready to stop yet. This compilation represents five years of ups and downs, tears and joy, growing, losing and finding itself again. I've never really questioned or reflected it much. The label has been pretty much a mirror of my personal life, my taste at a certain point and the artist or person that was involved in my life at that particular stage of my life. As such, I want to give this first chapter of Love On The Rocks a nice closure.”

Some artists on the compilation return to the fold, such including Fantastic Man, Massimiliano Pagliara, Violet, ELLES, Etbonz, Dirk Leyers and Alex Kassian. Others are featured for the first time such as Francis Inferno Orchestra, Bartellow and Eric Duncan. And others again are a complete surprise, including Kornél Kovács, Daniela La Luz and Hermann Kristoffersen. ‘5 Years of Love On The Rocks’ presents an opportunity for artists to explore the charismatic boundaries between house, disco, new wave and acid, with the shared goal of sheer dancefloor bliss.

“Every record I put out felt like a message I'm sending out into the universe”, explains Paramida. “And everyone featured on this compilation is someone I deeply connect with, even though it's a pretty unexpected mix of artists. Here’s to the next five years.”
