The United Nations Of Dub Weekender is back! Now in it’s second year, the worlds only family friendly multi day indoor dub, roots and reggae festival, the United Nations Of Dub Weekender (U.N.O.D Weekender) is back at Pontins ‘Prestatyn Sands’ self catering holiday park in North Wales from 28th – 30th March 2014 for another instalment of bass fuelled fun and games featuring over one hundred of the biggest artists and sound systems out there. You can catch the Reggae Roast crew there on Saturday in the Mungo's Hi-Fi arena! Prior to the session we met up with one of the event organisers and all round nice bloke I-Mitri to chat about his time in the music industry & what this year's UNOD session has to offer....

In this country broken by political troubles, a visionary musician decides to open a private club to help and give voice to the poor and the suffering people.

« The Africa Shrine » was a social center by day and a musical club by night.

On this stage, among other things, Fela Kuti and his musicians created a brand new musical style, called Afrobeat, which mixed modern jazz improvisations and african musical elements.

Liberty was the direction, improvisation was the way, fighting military and politicks a necessity.

This new Wise&Dubwise release is a tribute to this freedom fighter.

Galang sees Parly embracing a tough ragga riddim track provided by Danny T & Tradesman that is reminiscent of the futurist, minimal style that was pioneered in the late 1990’s and early 00’s by producers such as Lenky, Ward 21, Frenchie and Steely & Clevie. As always Parly brings his distinctive vocal style to the track that perfectly rides the space and weight the riddim brings. Deliciously low slung, and punching at all the tastiest low end frequencies, this is one for the winers!

From "Underground Wobble"

In 2005, the album Wave Digger paves the way for two years of tour in France and worldwide, multiplying encounters and collaborations (Wangtone with Wang Lei, Zentone with Zenzile, Re-Processed remixed by their mates) and diffusing their tribal electro-dub, blending heavy breaked bassline and nervous scratches. They come back in 2007 with "Underground Wobbles" : their fourth opus seems more calm, far from Jungle, Hip Hop, Electronica or Dub experimentations, typical of Wave Digger. Entering more downtempos spheres, machines and programmation left space for instruments. Narrative and often complex compositions absorb the listener in a psychedelic and misty trip (Understellar, Round Trip...), highly-seasoned here and there by nervous and fickle tracks (Freakency, Ask The Dust, Speed 110).

As far as harmonies and melodies are concerned, they evolved too, taking High Tone to a sound more accomplished than ever, recognizable anywhere, possessed by teeming influences... To cut a long story short, with his so personnal style, High Tone mixes with a disconcerting talent electronic musics, ethnic samples and surgical scratches. Underground Wobble assert itself as the cornerstone of the works, in constant evolution, of a group tirelessly guided by clearing up new horizons, by the opening of new ways, with as line of sight the willing to never paraphrase oneself. That state of mind is the privilege of the great and the good.
