Some facts. 

Naum Gabo are Jonnie Wilkes and James Savage.

This is their first release on RAD although they have strong ties with the RAD family for some 20 years now.

James and Jonnie have released as Naum Gabo on many labels world wide including 4 times on Kompakt's mighty Speicher 12" series. They also produce music for film, have a dancehall side project under the alias Richmond & Lord Sheraton and James is the mastering engineer for many labels worldwide, operating out of their Glasgow studio - Hottrax Music and Mastering.

While our friends lay within uncertainty’s keep, we can have no rest. We run in our sleep, minds and hearts racing towards those dragged away from us. We wake up to anxious calls from faraway detention centers, garbled and cut short. We can't forget what it felt like to see them free, their beautiful faces cutting through the fog and crowd on the dancefloor. 

It's been a hard two weeks for us all. Thank you to those who have supported our efforts in freeing our friends so far -- words simply aren't enough. We present to you this compilation as an entreaty, pledge, and salve. All proceeds will go towards legal aid for our friends currently held under threat of deportation. We are preparing these funds and ourselves for a long, arduous fight. May this music also uplift you during these dark times -- we know everyone could use a bit of healing right now. 

Dimseniya is a benefit compilation by Friends for Friends. We are forever grateful to all the artists who so quickly agreed to be a part of this and gave away their music for free. All proceeds will go towards lawyer and/or bond fees for our dear friends. Let's keep them home.

Budget Cuts: Records & Tapes is honored to present five tracks of pure bliss from Bogotá based artist Ronan (@ronan-music). Ronan, which translates to ‘A Little Seal’ in Gaelic, is the moniker of producer and artist Robin Lohrey. Lohrey was raised on San Juan Island in Washington and studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduating, Lohrey moved to Ridgewood, Queens establishing himself as the creative director the Felt Presence studio space and and the technical director of the Groovy Groovy underground party series. After releasing projects on Vanity Press and Jungle Gym under his given name, Lohrey created a new musical vision and path with the founding of the Ronan moniker and the Eternal Ocean imprint with the release of the instant cult classic “Prolongez La Magie”. 

For his second release, Ronan offers an introspective 5 track EP. Recorded largely during a secluded summer spent living in a cabin in the woods on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State this selection of music spans a range of tempos and moods, creating its own unique narrative space somewhere along the hardcore continuum. This creative period marked an important transition in Ronan’s life and he found solace and meaning in the writings of psychologist and meditation teacher Tara Brach, who’s book Radical Acceptance shares the title of this EP. Her words of awakening from what she calls “The Trance of Fear” activated deep self reflection and inspired this work which represents a testament to the brave act of facing one’s self and to the joy found in accepting who we truly are.

Lisbon’s Violet has contributed to the latest yearly UN Women compilation, ‘HeForShe x femme culture’. It follows femme culture’s volume two compilation, which saw contributions from Martyn Bootyspoon, Mr Mitch, India Jordan, Nightwave, Lone, and more. As before, all proceeds and sales from the HeForShe Vol. 3 will go to the United Nations Women, the global champion for gender equality. This year, donations from sales will go to making sure that the needs of womxn and girls are recognised and addressed in the global response to Covid-19, as domestic violence and sexual exploitation have sadly risen as a result of social isolation. A spacious, glistening work that recalls the Uncut Gems score at times with its new age synths, naive label head Violet (listen to her Dummy Mix here) offers up ‘Sketching Tomorrows’. Other artists featuring on the compilation are DJ Boring, Yazzus, DJ Python, S-Type and label head Elkka.
