This is my birthday gift to one of my biggest DJ heroes and big brother in music, Brooklyn's own DJ Clark Kent!  The tracks featured in this 2-hour-plus mix span close to 4 decades and highlight many of Clark's revered contributions to Hip Hop and R&B, as well as obscure remixes and productions from well-known artists and one-hit wonders. From the vintage 80s to the head nod 90s and what many people have dubbed the "jiggy era" of the 2000s, there aren't many DJs and producers who can say they've done it all for that long and continued to stay relevant throughout their careers. Let's not even talk about his brand ambassadorship and sneaker expertise, that's a whole other monster! (IYKYK) It's time to give this pioneer his flowers and recognize greatness! Happy Birthday DJ Clark Kent!

There was a time when I owned 4-5 copies of Sly Stone's "FRESH" album, it was so vitally important to me. I remember hearing it for the first time in the 90s and it blew my mind. I preached the Sly gospel since to many friends of my age in the years since. That album will always be a cornerstone of musical history and importance to me, and helped me on my record digging journey forward. So many people have covered his songs over the years, in so many funky and creative ways, so I've included a number of those covers on this episode, along with some of my favorite originals of his. RIP the legend Sly Stone, thank you so much for all the beautiful music!

Within the last few years, Ruck P and Wiz, two young and upcoming Djs from Biel-Bienne have been collecting a lot of experience on the turntables. Individually and as a group, they’ve gained a reputation as rock solid Hip Hop djs throughout their country of origin. They’re able to entertain all audiences from straight backpackers to a mainstream crowd.

With their first album they’re finally proving their skills not only on the turntables, but also on the MPC. The 14 self produced tracks feature international renowned artists as Masta Ace or Termanology and Prop Dylan from Sweden but also some of Switzerland’s finest as Nefew’s Polemikk, Manillio or Greis. With lots of love for fine details, the two producers got to create their unique sound over a period of several years. Inspired by the classic east coast esthetic, they’ve chopped unknown sample sources to rearrange those bits and pieces into something completely new. This led to a solid album which unites traditional influences and modern techniques.
