Janx - Mantra Journey Vol. 1 (DJ Set) - Oct 2025 Series

Metasonic is the psychedelic DJ project of Sidney van Dyk. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa now living in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since first being exposed to psychedelic trance music and culture in 2009 he fell head over heals in love with both.

He believes that the psychedelic trance journey at it's roots is one of the most liberating and freeing experiences one can have. Be it progressive day-time to Full-on night time to Darkpsy etc, etc, etc and all the myriad of genres in between. The journey it takes you within your own consciousness and who you are after experiencing this journey of sound and self is what made him fall in love. 

Hence the name, Metasonic(meta - after / sonic - sound) is a tribute to that place in all of us that we reach after being taken on a psychedelic sound journey.

His vision for this project is to bring about journey sets to take the listener to that special place inside themselves.

Shmigi is the diverse DJ act of Micheal Jansen van Vuuren. Playing styles like techno/psytech/zenonesque/progressive trance/full-on and psychedelic. Born and raised in South Africa he found a love for the psychedelic scene back in 2012 where he attended his first trance party (Groovy Troopers - Celestial Beings). Since then his love for the scene has grown tremendously and he started to go to more and more open air festivals. He also has a BIG love for seeing parties unfold from scratch thus he started working at events as stage manager, setup crew and volunteers manager. After attending a number of productions he started to DJ with his best mate Janco van der Wateren aka Janx, who is his mentor and teacher. Together they mixed tunes in his wendy house in his back garden and slowly, but surely refined their different styles.

Coming from a musical background due to his father playing in a rock band Shmigi also knows his way around sound and setting up of equipment.

BIO:
DJ Janx also known as Janco van der Wateren, started Dj'ing, at the age of 16. He was born and raised in Strand, Western Cape, South Africa.
 
He was introduced to Psychedelic Trance at the age of 14, as most of his friends at that time listened to the genre of electronic music. He also went to his first psytrance party, Alien Safari Flying Circus, where he watched local pioneering DJs & producers, such as Archive and Delirient, after that party, he knew he wanted to pursue dj'ing further.  

He then also got more interested in the local psytrance festival scene, where he started working at festivals, in multiple different areas. With doing that as well, and being involved, he even fell more in love with psytrance and the local scene. He was also guided by great local dj's, friends and organisers who has given him  advice which helped him over the years to get him where he is today. And its all thanks to Archive (Lyle Jensen), Lester The Jester (Lester Pywell), Phixius (Anthony Elsey), Positive (Mark Norman), Strain (Rahil Mahilde), Warren Booysen and Jeff Van Schoor. 

Janx always tries to put as much variety of different artists and tracks in his sets that it always brings a psychedelic journey. He is also capable of playing in different types of sub-genre psychedelic trance. Ranging from psychedelic progressive trance to fullon psychedelic trance . No matter, the time of day. He has also played at big festivals in South Africa, such as Organik, Alien Safari and Vortex Parallel Universe. He has played between top South African psy djs and producers such as Geometric Flux, Archive, DJ Mark, Brontide, Rubix Qube, Josh Mac, Dynamic Range, Dranged, Switchcache and Sonic.
