Mother of the celebrated singer songwriter Nick Drake, Molly Drake was a singer songwriter in her own right. The influence of her poetry and compositions is undeniable when listening to the music of her son. She never published any of her poems or songs during her lifetime. She wrote and recorded these songs in her home after WWII. There exists a recording of Molly Drake singing and playing this song in the living room of the country home she shared with her husband, who can be heard operating the recording equipment. When I first heard this song, I fell in love with it's wistful nostalgic tone and imagery.
