When I heard Rüdiger Petter’s track ‘Quite Evening’ last week, I found it so beautiful that I asked him if I could put my vocals to it and I’m so happy he agreed. I had such a picture in my mind of a couple in love having a beautiful romantic evening together, enjoying each other’s company away from all this society’s craziness, just the two of them together. I used to wonder where i fit in but i'd fight through the pain and i would do it again - I used to believe that i wasn't good enough - a joke in its own right cause I'm fucking dynamite - kept my head high i did all that could to be better everyday - there was no other way and i always knew i had voices inside and they were screaming for something - seems they always wanted something else
But we all want something yeah..... but will we let it in - yeah we all want something yeah but will we let it in.....
So keep the good close and be done with the rest of them pretty much done it all kid you've hung with the best of them - hold your head high you've given all that you can - when the end comes a creeping just know that you were a man - and tell me how does it feel when you have voices inside they're all screaming for something yeah we all want something else and how will you feel when your done with your ride will you still be searching for something or will you be satisfied -

about the song:

My purchase of a four track player in 1989 was the best purchase I ever made because it opened up a whole new world of music creation potential. I thought the sound quality of my productions back then sounded incredible and it is so interesting to listen back and hear how "bad" they sounded when referenced against "today's" digital environment and which we take so much for granted today. This song was NOT made on a four track player, however, I did try to emulate the sound of degraded tape hiss in certain sections of the song for effect. Looking back, the weaknesses of my early recordings had a tremendous endearing quality to my ears and I attempted to capture that feel and sentiment in my new song "Our Time". The song has both a certain sad/nostalgic feel upfront and then transitions into a happier/uplifting and moving arrangement at the end. Enjoy the song and Thank You.

Breathe First

An unnecessarily long song with no true chorus (thank/blame R.E.M. haha!) and, for the first time ever in the whole Behold the Sludge catalogue, no kind of rhyme structure whatsoever. Taking cues from everyday life, the title simply comes from me and my wife telling my daughter to stop mumbling so much.

Who can't remember the first passionate kiss? This song invites you to do just that. With my sound and lyrics I try to describe how I experienced my first deep kiss. One or the other will have experienced it in a similar or in a different way.
