Rule of thumb, een rockband ontstaan in de schaduw van de bosgronden te Sint-Maria-Aalter, is een eerste muzikale collaboratie van zanger/gitarist Kevin De Smet en gitarist/toetsenist Dave Van Simaeys. Wat begon als psychedelische instrumentale muziek groeide na toevoeging van bassist Ian Van de Gehugte en drummer Brecht Tant snel uit tot “straight in your face rock-n-roll”. 
Met invloeden zoals Led Zeppelin, Deep purple en The White stripes brengt dit viertal no-nonsens rock in een 70’s jasje.

Terwijl de band momenteel nog hun live-reputatie opbouwt, werd er reeds de studio ingedoken en dat heeft een kanjer van een demo opgeleverd. De EP “Rule of Thumb” dompelt je direct onder in de catchy rock tunes die het viertal op je trommelvliezen bombardeert.
