Jerry Garcia (1942-1995) created an unparalleled legacy across the American landscape, most notably in his role as a founding member, singer, songwriter and lead guitarist of the Grateful Dead. Garcia's unmistakable guitar tone enchanted multitudes of "Deadheads" throughout the band's 30-year career and beyond. His work with the Jerry Garcia Band, Old and in the Way, Legion of Mary, Garcia/Grisman, and projects with Merl Saunders, only scratch at the surface of his musical influences, as he set out to master the Great American Songbook. Unequivocally devoted to the craft of music, Garcia continues to inspire future generations through the body of work he has left behind and his creative spirit.

Writes Itself's music is tailored to live exploration, cross pollinating progressive rock, contemporary jazz, and folk with world elements while maintaining an original voice. Both Brian Guy (vocals/ guitar) and Dan Mennitt's (bass) brand of musical exploration evolves from the very understanding that in music there is no right or wrong, simply a pallet of colors and sounds that evoke both the harmony and dissonance that is our lives. Their "play for the heart and soul of it all" approach is the very bridge that is writing the soundtrack for their movement that puts "people before profit" and paves the way for its community to get inspired, proactive and be given a voice in a song and story that collectively writes itself.

This is a collection of some of my music, past and present. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play with some incredible musicians.
