I don't know what do tonight, I swore I would take it all in stride and just stay at the hotel until It was time to go on stage but I showed up to early and now I am stuck in a room full of post modern couches, inconsequential gossip and two glowing fridges full of Red bull, the last thing I should be drinking if depressed or about to play a show, where I would then play all the songs to fast and then crash right afterwards (or during the last song if I am not lucky.), the night is young but I no longer am, so to no one in particular I ask "Should I kill myself or have a Red bull?"

Rump Recordings announces Mikkel Meyer's new “DIAMONDS EP" - to be released Thursday the 12th of February 2015. 

Diamonds is Mikkel Meyer’s fifth release, and his second on Rump.
His previous release, the nostalgic 303 & 808-based "Jolly EP" from 2014, gained great reviews around the globe plus airplay at the BBC.

After the release Mikkel Meyer joined the touring KUBE project with Rumpistol and Unkwon and now he's back with a release full of sparkling emotional acid tunes.

The title refers to diamonds as a precious gemstone and a profitable object to simile or synthesize. Inspired by this strange nature of the stone, Meyer names his tunes after different imitations of the mythical rock. 

On the "Diamonds EP", Mikkel Meyer searches for the dance floor with acid in his pocket and beats on his mind. The orchestra is stripped down to music-machines of the 80’s, they are modified so yesterdays sound is all but a shimmering glow on the modern tracks. The result is melodic and full of emotions with a hint of electrified American new folk. Like Bonnie "Prince" Billy if he had switched his guitar and voice for synths and drum machines. 

Mikkel Meyer will start touring again in February 2015 with the KUBE project now expanded with Ceephax Acid Crew and Danish techno legend Bjørn Svin.

Patch Notes:

This was a patch experiment using the new Mutable Instruments Rings/Clouds Modules, and trying to create strumming/plucking guitar like sounds within a patch. The inspiration came from playing around with the Clouds Parasites 1.3 alternate firmware running in the Resonator mode highlighting the "scatter" (or strum) function. The master clock was the Tiptop Circadian Rhythms module, taking the first 4 outputs into my Nord Drum 2 for the Kick, snare, closed and open hi-hats. From there the clock output from the CR was multiplied and then sent to the Modcan Touch Sequencer. First row output from the TS was sent to the intellijel Shapeshifter creating a two note baseline sequence that comes in at 1:58. The second sequence Row2 output from the TS was sent to the "ALM Akemie's Castle" module OSC A output using the chord function, that comes in at 25 seconds. The gates from the modcan where set to a 16th's pulse sequence. Modulation from the synthesis technology E102 Quad Temporal Shifter output 1 modulating the Multiplier input on Operator 1. The 2, 3 and 4 outputs from the E102 where also modulating the Operator 2, 3, and 4 inputs on the Akemie's Castle. This was creating the harmonic timbre changing as the sequence was playing.

The slowly evolving sweeping noise textures that come in at 1:09 is from the Music Thing Radio Music module. The sample was a white noise sampled lightly filtered and then sent to the intellijel HexVCA with the amplitude CV control via a Intellijel Dixie modulating from slow to high rates (free running). The Make Noise Rene was being externally clocked from the Circadian Rhythm, and was sending out a quantized output to the Mutable Instruments Clouds pitch input creating the chord guitar sequence. The strum sounds on Clouds was played by the 4ms QCD running in 32th division output into the Trigger input. The freeze input was also triggered by a Ladik R-110 Random clock module. The combination of the two created the trill chord like strums.

The bass guitar tone sound that comes in at 1:24 are from the MakeNoise Mysteron, that is being sequenced by the Modcan Touch Sequencer, Row Output 3 was programmed in the same key but a lower octave. The "Rings" module was creating slow attack soft high pitched chords in reverb that come around 2:50. There was additional processing of the Clouds output that was sent into the Tiptop ZDSP module running the "Halls of Vahalla" card program 8 "Ginnungagap" creating the high pitch octave deep reverb shimmer effects. The harmonic slow swells that come in at 3:30 where created using another intellijel Dixie oscillator sine output running into an Strymon "Big Sky" pedal being harmonically controlled by an intellijel µScale V1. The output was being played slowly then processed using the "Choral" mode, creating the slow shimmer swells. The entire mix was sent into the Eventide Space pedal using the "Corridors" patch.

The remixers featured on this release varies from IDM & ambient pioneers like Mr. Projectile, ISAN and Rumpistol himself over beat heavy producers like Osmetic (aka Mike Wallis known for his legendary "Crunch" project with Tipper), Mindex & David Last, to talented newcomers like Noosfære and Rasmus Fisker.

"Space has always been a little part of Isan, and I've always had a special fondness for the little probes and robots we send out to the farthest and loneliest parts of our Solar System. 

As I was working on the remix of Rumpistol's gorgeous "Circular Drops", NASA was live-streaming the final moments of the Cassini space probe after 13 years of exploring Saturn and its moons. I recorded the synth strings as I watched the last data signals from Cassini as it plunged into Saturn's atmosphere. 

The photos Cassini sent home in these final moments are beautiful, and tinged with just a little sadness - I don't mind confessing I got quite misty-eyed as I watched. The remix is a tribute to the spacecraft and the people at NASA/JPL who took us on this incredible journey to Saturn. " - Antony Ryan (Isan)

For Danish composer Rumpistol, two huge driving forces behind his music are the search for beauty and the search for new sounds.
These sonic and aesthetic curiosities, which can be firmly traced back to his self-titled 2003 debut, now considered a bit of an IDM classic, have taken him to many diverse fields of the electronic landscape.
His melodic yet spaced-out music is often hard to categorize and he’s capable of doing anything from pure ambient sets, over groovy midtempo sets to energetic tech sets as well. Always 100% original material and always with a distinct live element.
Rumpistol has performed his detailed sound across Europe, US, Mexico & Brazil including venues like Boiler Room UK and MUTEK Montreal.

Apart from producing under the name Rumpistol, he also creates scores for film, theatre & contemporary dance.
His music was used at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio 2016 and in 2017 he won a Danish Music Award Jazz for the album “Masala” with his band Kalaha.

Since 2003 he has run the label Rump Recordings, showcasing mainly Danish electronic artists through a release span of more than 35 releases but he has also released on the renowned Berlin- based label Project Mooncircle, and Danish Iboga Records.

Rumpistol has gained wide acknowledgement from people like John Peel (UK) and Laurent Garnier (F) to Om Unit (UK) & Tipper (UK) whom he shared stages with twice in 2017.

The award winning and Gilles Peterson-approved Danish supergroup Kalaha - @Kalahamusic returns with their first release in almost two years: the EP 'Mama Ngoma'. 

The EP is first and foremost a tribute to West African traditions like Highlife and Afrobeat but mixed with the dance floor appeal of contemporary electronic music. 

The backbone of the band comes from the outrageous drumming of Emil de Waal, who's improvisational attitude is known to astound audiences around the world, alongside the finely balanced guitar of Niclas Knudsen, who has been studying and refining African techniques for more than a decade now. 

On top of this, the two highly regarded electronic producers and synth wizards, @Rumpistol & @Spejderrobot, take the band to new musical hemispheres by adding layers through extra-terrestrial synths, analogue effects and spaced out samples. 

The electronic aspect of the EP is further expanded with two remixes from NYC-based MALAKAI and Danish rising star Bwoy de Bhajan. 

The EP is accompanied by an animated video directed by the group's art director Zven Balslev, and in the spring of 2019 follows an entire album titled 'Mandala'.

Kalaha - Dragon Jenny (SidiRum Remix)

Çok Küstüm (Turkish for ”You’ve let me down”) is the first single from the Daniwh band Kalaha’s new album ‘Mandala’. Musically the track celebrates Anatolian funk and disco from the 70s and features the Turkish singer baglama player Orhan Özgur and vocalist Hilal Kaya. Lyrically it describes the mixed emotions following a break up, where unreturned love gives way to anger and disappointment.
