5 track downtempo Balearic house EP by Ex Spiral tribe member Lol Hammond's studio project Wah Wah Planet from 1990 along side Russell Crone featuring female vocals by Lucy Sian. Serving as a pioneering early example of UK Street Soul. A side explores the romantic theme brought to the table by the lyrics in a more pop/radio edit oriented manner whereas the B-side takes things down a more leftfield route with 3 different excursions in early 90's smooth Balearics ranging from early breaky/triphop nuances to elements borrowing from dancehall music. Including a previously unreleased mix found deep in Lol's master tapes.

The sea breeze caressed the sails as vessels set their course toward the mystical shores of Valinor. Guided by the whispers of the ocean and the wings of swift seagulls, the ships departed from the harbour. Enamoured by the vibrant palette of colours and sounds, the sailors found themselves surrounded by flocks of swift seagulls. The birds' feathers glistened in the rays of the setting sun, foreshadowing a clear and calm night of sailing to faraway lands.

Moving Pictures label resurges with its fifth various artists compilation, once again connecting artists from around the globe and entangling listeners in another sound odyssey. Artists from diverse musical backgrounds and cultures join forces, each contributing unique tracks to this diverse collection.

In an exciting development for OYE Records, the renowned Berlin record shop is set to relaunch with an anticipated debut EP from fast-rising local artist LACATY . LACATY's journey into the industry began through a serendipitous meeting with an OYE team member through Femme Bass Mafia and eventually found their own paths. As the idea of releasing a debut EP came up, it felt natural for LACATY and them to join forces. Relocating to London marked a pivotal moment in LACATY's career. Immersed in the city's vibrant energy, she was among a select group chosen for the AVA Creator Forum, where she honed her skills and creative practice. The distance from Berlin's social scene provided the mental space to fully develop her ideas, resulting in a debut EP. "I wanted to create what I play – tracks that are not only energetic and punchy but also filled with emotion," LACATY shared. "Being in London, away from the familiar Berlin vibe, allowed my sound to evolve naturally, unconfined by genre expectations." Designed to heat up any dance floor, all three tracks feel like an ode to the vibrant 90s music scene. They are woven together by a blissful euphoria, while simultaneously evoking a sense of nostalgia.

OYE 12" Service: LACATY - Cascade EP Snippets

The notion of house music as a form of uptempo soul music is intrinsic evidence with a record like the one on hand. Professor Supercool’s If You Love Somebody is many things at once: an example of a special brand of British pop music, influenced by US-American soul more or less from the get-go, the Second Summer of Love, the conception of Balearic as a music genre, the cultural interchange of European dance floors and DJs from across the pond and underground music marketing through the vessel of special one-time pressings. The mysterious Professor Supercool is actually a moniker for Dr. Rob of The Blow Monkeys’s fame, who produced the song with a veteran and legendary DJ of the Northern Soul scene „The Real Hector“ – a resident at the famous Wag Club.

Originally a part of the band’s Album Spring Time For The World, it appeared first as a special For-Promotion-Only-12“ in 1989 with limited information as a trial ballon to „avoid preconceptions“. The fear was without reason. Like the band’s other big dance floor record and Balearic fave LA Passionara a year later, it got played and supported by the DJs of its time. Next to Graeme Park at the Hacienda or Paul Oakenfold, it also got picked up by Mastermixer Tony Humphries and became a staple at his radio and club sets for KissFm respectively Club Zanzibar. While the vocal mix found its way on said album, the preferred 12“ instrumental version has never been released anywhere else up until now and made the record go for a substantial amount of Discogs dollars.

Expanded with an edit by the label’s in-house DJ Gerd Janson that is supposed to work as a dub alternative to the vocal mix, the 12-inch and bundle download contain the original plus a faithfully restored and remastered version of the instrumental in demand. If you love this record it is impossible to let it go.

Samya enjoys taking people through a journey, changing up beats and rhythms, while finding a common aesthetic through his sets. Ultimately he just wants people to dance, have a good time, experience amazing new music that instantly feels familiar and nourishing, in a, I have to dance or just listen acutely sense, with a sprinkle of some old school classics.

This is Thongvor's first release, born out of his exploration of the world of electronic music, his familiarity with synthesizers, and his desire to convey images of lightness and warm feelings through music. The album's compositions are built around samples framed by the sound of keys. The sounds of drum machines are responsible for the groove, and Afro-Cuban percussion is for the dance rhythms.

Consistent, laconic and at the same time danceable, it instantly transports us to a parallel storyline where we are captivated by the sound of the ocean, the noise of the crowd and the singing of birds.
