Berlin-based and London-raised Revivis heads fresh into 2024 with the second release on his own Santo Tomas imprint. Successfully launching the label in 2023, the rising British DJ and producer’s new body of work showcases his maturing and expanding taste in electronic sounds.  Rooted in house fundamentals, Dance State is aimed squarely for the dancefloor. Its four solid groovers draw inspiration from punchy '90s house, early acid-flavoured trance, and the driving, bouncy, golden-era sound of British progressive. 

A1’s "All Over" uses the late-night Levantine soundscapes of Berlin’s Neukölln district as its main melodic inspo, while "Queen of Chaos" on the B1 is a straight-up homage to euphoric '90s piano moments. B2’s "Sophia" playfully wrestles with the question of AI and musical creativity by sampling Sophia, an AI entity, as it reflects on its emotions. Finally, the EP’s A2 namesake is an acid-tinged redemptive roller built to soundtrack those deeper, dancefloor workout moments that Revivis’s sets have become known for.

Tower blocks tagged in neon, street-lamps buzzing, gutters slick with oil… that’s the turf of the “yaourt-cats,” rooftop strays who meow a single warped word before melting back into shadow. Over grimy house-techno grooves their paws hammer the pulse, claws sampling the concrete: heavy kicks, filthy subs, synths as sour as a dented tin can. Four tracks built for after-midnight wandering—hood up, head down—guided by phosphorescent eyes toward the rave hiding deep in the alleyways.

And it has all the classic trademark sounds we cherish them for: British bass science applied on classic house tropes, breakbeats underpin transcendent melodies, IDM meets UKG. The sounds of Guerilla records, Northern Exposure and the mash-up aesthetics of early Rage parties all echo through the ranks. All of it expertly executed and as much fun to listen to as to play it out. But handing the microphone over to the band themselves: 
„Boris Borrison’s Trip To Morrisons: An Italo inspired bassline meets Belgian rave vibes via a British supermarket chain. Who is Boris Borrison? Perhaps we’ll never know. Some say he’s still wandering around in the freezer aisle to this very day.
Lea Valley is a homage to the area in London along the river Lea, home to a mix of nature reserves and industrial warehouses and wasteland, historically famous for illegal parties. The area was a regular haunt in our teenage raving days.
