OCCA, who's leading the Japanese techno scene both in name and fact, is recognized as one of the special figures who continues to inspire the current scene not only as a DJ but also as an event organizer with a comprehensive perspective. 

The set he performed to close DAY 2 started with a techno sound that skillfully blended roaring bass, electronic repetitive sounds that made the audience soar, and organically intertwined drums. In the latter half of the set, when the sun emerged, the audience was treated to more ravey and, at times, even sensory numbing house music, a feat only OCCA could mix up with his solid experience of self-expression in a wide variety of venues. The three-hour set is a perfect opportunity to fully enjoy his extensive library of musics.

名実共に現行のテクノシーンを牽引するOCCAは、包括的な視点を持ったイベントオーガナイザーとしても現行のシーンに刺激を与え続ける特別な存在の1人。そんな彼がDAY2のクロージングセットを務めるべく披露したセットでは、轟くようなベースとオーディエンスが昇天するような電子反復音、そして有機的に絡み合うドラムが巧みにブレンドされたテクノサウンドを用いてバトンを引き継ぎました。太陽が出現した後半の時間では、よりレイヴィーに、そして時には、感覚を麻痺させるようなハウスミュージックまでが堪能できるでしょう。彼の豊富なライブラリーを存分に堪能できる3時間のセットをお楽しみください。

Atsushi Maeda, one of the founders and organizers of rural  festival, returned to the DJ booth this year after a 12-year absence.

The time he started his set rainfall was more intense, but despite the stormy weather, the audience danced enthusiastically until the end, creating an interactive techno piece that resembled a tug of war between the audience and the DJ. Enjoy a techno journey that deeply affects your body and spirit, as if you are running through a tunnel with no light in sight, surrounded by a sense of relief.

ruralの創設者・オーガナイザーの1人であるAtsushi Maedaが、今年は12年ぶりにruralのDJブースへと戻りました。降雨の激しさがより厳しくなる時間に始まったこのセットは、荒天にも関わらず多くのオーディエンスが熱狂的に踊ることで最後まで見届けられ、オーディエンスとDJによる綱引きのような相互作用的なテクノ作品へと仕上がりました。ruralが追い求める高品質なサウンドを象徴する存在であるAtsushi Maedaによって創られた、光の見えないトンネルの中を安堵に包まれながら走り抜けるテクノジャーニーをお楽しみください。

We released an opening set for the pre-party of  “rural” performed by KAPI, which is based at “CLUB SHAFT,” one of the most famous music clubs in the Tohoku region, and has been holding events that happen a crossover of different genres. This low-flying set of down-tempo music that included some compound time signatures and experimental sounds, gently loses your sense of time.

東北地域随一の名箱〈CLUB SHAFT〉を拠点としながら、同地域で異なったジャンルのクロスオーバーを引き起こすイベントを続けてきたKAPIによるrural前夜祭のオープニングセット。随所に散りばめられたエクスペリメンタルサウンドと変拍子も含まれた味わい深いダウンテンポが優しく時間感覚を喪失させます。

OCCA hails from the snowy city of Sapporo, located in the northernmost region of Hokkaido, Japan. In addition to inviting renowned DJs like Peter Van Hoesen, DJ Nobu, Haruka, DJ Yazi, and IORI to perform at his Archiv parties at the legendary Sapporo club, Precious Hall, OCCA has established himself as a respected DJ in his own right.

OCCA has played at several notable events, including Future Terror and Gong, which were organized by DJ Nobu, as well as Exit the Labyrinth, Balance by Mindgames, and Dommune×Boiler Room. His performances aim to take the audience on a sonic journey, where he expertly blends existing techno tracks to craft new sounds and create futuristic techno-style elements.
