These seductive basslines fill the air and swarm anyone who dares cross their brazen path, this is techno delivered at full tilt. In this special release, we bring you an electrifying excerpt from their live performance in Santiago, January 2023. Atom™ and Tobias, maestros of electronic music, have been sculpting the soundscape of European techno since the 1980s. Their journey is a chronicle of innovation, live experimentation, and sonic mastery.

This episode is a celebration of their enduring collaboration, which began with a historic performance in Frankfurt in 1990. Renowned for their live shows, the duo has continually redefined what it means to experience electronic music.

Their performance is an audacious exploration of musical possibilities, powered by real-time programming and unlimited improvisation. Despite being continents apart, with Atom in Chile and Tobias in Berlin, their reunion on stage ignites a creative force that is palpable in every beat and rhythm.

The mix is a rich tapestry of techno, woven with threads of experience from iconic venues like Berghain and the Labyrinth Festival in Japan. Listeners are invited to embark on a journey that traverses the traditional boundaries of the genre, venturing into uncharted auditory territories.

A live session that encapsulates three decades of evolution in the world of electronic music, where every moment is an spontaneous creation, and every sound a revelation.

The source of this 56 minute excerpt is the recording of my last extended dj set. It was performed on June 23 2023 at Badaboum in Paris. 

The show at Badaboum marked the end of a long series of all-night long sets which I have been performing over many years. As I have focused all my attention on playing live I consider this event and its recording as the last statement in my dj life. A closing chapter, so to speak.

As this set was my last extended dj set it features a mix of new material and personal favourites which I have enjoyed playing over the past years. This set was a long, intense ride into my music collection. I was fortunate enough to have a supportive crowd which was up for joining me for seven hours straight. It was a fitting way to close off a big part of my musical life. I would like to thank everyone who has come out to hear me dj in the last twenty years or more - your presence and support remains essential. In the future I hope to see you at one of my upcoming live shows. The journey of expression continues, taking a different shape, searching for new forms.

Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. With two major milestones upon us today, we're fortunate enough to be celebrating with one of the finest in electronic music. A new year is upon us and today we also reach a major podcast milestone, to celebrate we welcome none other than contemporary techno legend, DJ Nobu for MNMT 400.

With decades of experience and as founder of both acclaimed party ‘Future Terror’ and record label ‘Bitta’, DJ Nobu has slowly but surely turned from being one of Japan's finest, to one of the world’s most in demand selectors. A great friend of Monument who delivered an incredible closing set at our first ever Monument City Festival in 2023, we couldn’t be happier to be marking the occasion with him. 

For this very special mix Nobu presents a stunning introspective excursion through electronica and deeper shades to celebrate the two milestones.
