This dates from the mid-eighties. This is what you can do with a Casio VL Tone (half calculator, half micro keyboard synth) and a four track portastudio.

This bit of sillyness was recorded by Alan Dickerson. Of course, Mik's wit outshines everyone else in this recording. I don't know if you could call this vocals, but it is a sort of record of Mik singing. He did protest ("I am in hell") but that was ignored. Happy birthday Mik Tubb, still very much missed.

La La-ing

The name comes from looking into the dark waves at sea in a storm, but I also think of the piece as being a musical figure of a storm passing over a shore at night. It is very much inspired by the beauty of the Isles of Scilly. 

Black Wave

This is a very early track from an earlier project. The band name is Risque Little Dick and the track dates from 1984. Recorded on a 4 track portastudio in a bedsit in Croydon.

In 2 parts. The first uses a just intonation, the second part changes during the piece from just intonation, to Quarter Comma Mean Tone, and back to just. There is also some key modulation, with the root of the just intonation changing during the second part. During the Quarter Comma Mean Tone section (second half of the second part) the root is kept static, so the chord changes introduce some dissonance.  All sounds from old FM synths (TX81Z and a DX11).
