I was the musical director of a nightclub in Houston with singing waitresses. I'd take one a week to a talent contest and win. Winning again with the grand prize winner. Darlene was a singing waitress. I took her with me to the revolving restaurant at the top of the Hyatt, at the Houston airport. Rusty Burns on guitar. I think he was about three albums into the Arista contract. we let him out of his contract to sign with Bill Hamm.

Well. This doesn’t sound nearly as bad as I remember. ;  ) Larry White and I abandoned it when we recorded it about ten years ago, as unsalvageable. I ran across it today transferring files. Never got a mix. Still hasn’t, but here’s a rough one. The musician lineup is monstrous. Rusty Burns on guitar. We let him out of his contract to start Bill Ham’s son of ZZ Top, Point Blank, on Arista (graveyard of recording contracts to some pundits). Larry White on steel guitar & bass. Larry played on Freddie Fender’s tens of millions of units, and many others. You can hear him talking as I count it off.  Ray Cobb on drums. I engineered, sang, and did the keys, of course. Rusty and Ray were my favorites on their instruments, maybe because we started out together, charting with Bruce Chanel in England, as engineered by Phil York, who won gold shortly after, for Willie’s Red Headed Stranger.
