Many Years Ago a Mysterious lake was found by a woman by the name of Caroline Eilander, Upon exploring the area she was made aware of it's power by unknown forces.

Desperate to acquire enlightenment, she started to research and experiment as much as she could, while her family grew larger and created a little paradise to live in.

Eventually the lake's power was too much for her family, who became obsessed with reaching enlightment, which ended in them sacrificing the woman, and eventually themselves.

Having reached enlightment, another family made their way into the lake a little after the woman, the Vanderbooms, In it was a man named William and his brother Aldous.

Aldous And William Managed to master the lake's great power, with Aldous being enlightened and william meeting his fate.

They grew their family tree way larger than the Eilanders ever could, but obsession was just a slow burn, waiting to bloom.

The Lake, furious at the families's lack of sacrifices, summond it's great power and trapped everyone related to the lake, unable to escape unless a great sacrifice is commited by an outsider

Many Years Later...

Now, corrupted and ruined, the families wander hoping that one day, they'll be free.
