80's Soul Classics (Remixed)

Paper's hook up with Norway continues to pay dividends with new artists who seem to knock it out the park with each release.

The latest is People Love Music's Diskobeistet who tick all the boxes for grasping the sound of Paper's heritage on a 4 track EP release for lovers of straight up "proper" house.

Birkelunden teams up tribally beats and smoking Rhodes with a Norwegian gentlemen's vocal that we're told is about going to the park, having a smoke and jumping up and down on a bouncy castle. So now you know.

The remix comes from another of our Norwegian friends, De Fantastiske To's Ravi who gives it a bit of old school grit and jack before the bleepy bloppy style breakdown opens it up for the darkest dance floors. Is it techno? Is it house? Who cares!

Gammal Morro goes late night with a lazy hazy, sunset drenched vibe hooked around a Rhodes and nagging riff. Drive with the top down on this one and sport a pair of sockless espadrilles while you're at it.

Nattergal is classic Paper all over, live sounding drums with snaps and claps in all the right places alongside a low slung bass line & chika chika guitar. Never straying far from the path, this is house for those that like it simple, straight forward and solid.

At just 21 it is often hard to feel a connection to the essence of a genre which was in its prime before he was even born, but one night at the disco with Get Down Edits and Late Nite Tuff Guy on the decks a spark was lit in Alan. Exquisite track selection, endless grooves, recognizable yet reworked classics and a feel good vibe being constants through his sets, productions and edits.  Co-founding the https://soundcloud.com/queenanddisco parties in Derry, Ireland back in 2013 before finally getting involved in the art of the re-edit. It was Queen & Disco that provided the platform for Alan, booking and playing along side some of his favorite producers. Today Alan and Queen & Disco is a sold force in the European dance music circles.

Also, keep an eye out for Queen & Disco's first vinyl release, Royalty of Funk Vol. 1 that will feature, along side the likes of LTJ and Get Down Edits, one of Allan's own edits 'Kofi' which is also the opening track of his set. Hold tight for more boozy dancefloor excess from the Editorial crew, a collective of re-editors whose musical output is always worth a listen. The seven-track missive begins with a chunk of electric piano-laden samba/jazz-funk magic courtesy of Nik M, before sometime Hot Digits and Midnight Riot man Frank Virgillio offers a more piano and percussion-laden chunk of sun-kissed Brazilian magic. Labor of Love gets the disco juices flowing via the cowbell-heavy shuffle of disco funker "Like I Do", The Funk District reach for the Clavinets on hazy roller "Baby Got It" and I Gemin smothers a tasty groove in liquid synths and deep house flourishes on "Oh Baby". To round things off, C Da Afro rearranges a warm and groovy electrofunk jam and Rica lays down some colourful nu-disco deepness.
